Description

Nikon Prostaff 3S Binoculars are perfect for those looking for rugged-yet- portable optics worthy of any adventure. Multilayer coatings, which provide higher light transmittance across the entire visible light spectrum, are applied to the lens and prisms surfaces that transmit light. This minimizes the loss of light due to reflection, thereby ensuring a more natural, clearer view. The Prostaff 3S Binoculars also have a high-reflectivity silver-alloy mirror coating applied on the mirror surfaces of the prisms for a bright and clear view. A high-eyepoint design provides long eye relief without vignetting. This setup gives the user a clear field of view, even when the user is wearing eyeglasses.O-ring sealed and nitrogen gas-filled, the Prostaff 3S gives you complete waterproof (up to 33' for 10 minutes) and fogproof performance. The lead- and arsenic-free Ecoglass is used for all lenses and prisms. Notably compact and lightweight, the Prostaff 3S implements maximum portability thanks to its fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate resin. Turn-and- slide rubber eyecups with multi-click facilitate easy positioning of eyes at the correct eyepoint. These binoculars are designed with rubber armoring for shock-resistance and a firm, comfortable grip. Nikon No-Fault Repair/Replacement Policy and limited lifetime warranty. • Gave me motion sickness
Size: 8x42
Whenever I looked through these binoculars I got nauseous and a headache, despite readjusting. My husband tried these binoculars and said he had difficulty getting them to focus. I tried focusing these and got a severe case of motion sickness and headache. I followed the directions and after an hour tried again...and had the same thing happen (nausea and headache so bad I had to lay down). The next day I tried one more time and they still made me nauseous despite following the instructions to focus. We had also ordered a pair of Celestron Nature at the same time as these Nikon binoculars...both my husband and I could see clearly through the Celestron binoculars (I had ordered two different types of binoculars since we are going on a trip and I don’t want us to confuse each other’s binoculars). I read online that the Nikon can have such a clear picture that it can cause vertigo to people who are susceptible. So if you’re not susceptible to vertigo or nausea they may be a good pair of binoculars for you...Or maybe I just got a bad pair of Nikons ... show more

  • Audubon Society Picks a Winner
Size: 10x42
As I'm new to birdwatching, I looked on the Audubon Society website to see which bins were recommended for beginners. The Nikons were at the top of the list in the low cost ratings. Light, compact and easy to use with surprising optical clarity. Would highly recommend them.

  • From 4 to 5 star rating
Size: 8x42
UPDATE: Ive had these binoculars for over a month and have since learned I was quite ignorant as to what fog proof meant in relation to these binoculars, which is concerning the internal fogging that can happen if moisture seeps into the binoculars. NOT fogging on outside of glass caused from binoculars going from inside cold air conditioned temp to out door warmer temp and high humidity. So I apologize for the 4 star rating I first gave. Still love my binoculars just need to try one of the products sold to help with the fogging outside of the glass, which does not occur often but of course when it does its when a bird I rarely see visits my yard and I run to get binoculars from inside and excitedly pop the caps and see NOTHING! :) Perfect for backyard bird watching. Crisp & clear viewing, comfortable for my eyes and lightweight. Only complaint is that Nikon states that they are water proof and fog proof and they are definitely NOT fog proof, which sucks if you come straight out of your air conditioned house, see a bird and pull binoculars out of case and you can’t see a thing because it’s all fogged up. So are they really waterproof as Nikon states? I hope I don’t have to find out ... show more

  • Crisp clear view but somewhat heavy to hold for long
Size: 8x42
These are larger than I expected and heavier. I have carpal tunnel and arthritis so these tire my hands quickly at 1 lb, 4.7 oz (weighed with strap and caps on). Otherwise, they are an amazing value. The eyepiece adjustment for glasses works well it just takes a bit to learn how to position binoculars to get full view. These provide a crisp, clear view in 3D of wildlife 100s of yards away. While scanning for a red-tailed hawk, I spotted a bluebird on a fence post I would not have noticed otherwise because the blue stood out so well in the field of view. These are one of the top rated budget binoculars on Audubon's site and they are well worth the $116. The average bird enthusiast should be pleased with them. ... show more

  • Worth a lot more
Size: 8x42
Clarity compares well to $900 binoculars. Don't go higher than 8 power unless using a tripod, you can't hold it still enough. And the difference between this Nikon Prostaff and $40 "Amazon recommended" binocs is huge. This is the perfect mix of clarity, cost, ease of use for me.

  • Birdwatcher?
Size: 8x42
I bought these for my fiancé for Christmas after reading the Audubon Society reviews for best birdwatching binoculars. Great for birdwatching.

  • Nice binoculars, well worth the price
Size: 10x42
These binoculars have a clear field of vison, are fairly light weight and easy to focus. The only improvement I would make is a better way to attach the large lens caps. The eye piece lens cap attach securely to the strap. Not so with the others. I made a few modifications and now the large lens caps won't get lost. I like these binoculars and would recommend them. ... show more

  • Good Binoculars
Size: 10x42
Good binoculars. Price is good. Vision image is good. Disappointed they are made in China since NIKON has been an iconic name brand of Japan!! I have a 35mm Nikon camera circa 1968 and it is still an excellent camera!!! Hope these binoculars are just as good???
