This review is for Nifeliz V8 Engine Building Set, $110 on amazon. Disclaimer. I have not yet built this kit so my observations are pre-assembly. I cannot speak to how hard/easy the build is or whether you might have problems during the build, e.g. missing pieces or how tightly the pieces fit together (clutch power). These 2725 pieces are standard size ‘Lego’ meaning a two-stud brick measures 16 mm in width. The pieces come in 46 bags; 41 numbered as per this tabulation and five unnumbered bags. The manual clearly shows when/where the pieces for each numbered bag are used. Because of the shear physical size of the instruction manual the assembly images are clear and easy to interpret. Prior to the build instructions are nine unnumbered pages which show nice photos and discussions regarding the model background. I like that there are no more than three numbered bags per number group. In that way the number of pieces spread out on my assembly table is manageable. Since I have not built the kit I can’t say how large it is but by looking at the Amazon video and comparing the man’s hands to the engine it looks “HUGE”. Just based upon the man’s hands I’d estimate the engine takes up about one cubic foot of space. So make sure you have the needed shelf or desk space to display this engine. Sure it’s expensive at $110 on amazon, but if you express the cost as dollars per hour of fun I think it’s well worth the price. ... show more

    • Great detail and quality
As an engineer with a keen appreciation for intricate mechanisms, I was immediately drawn to this V8 engine building set. I'm still in the early stages of construction, but I'm already incredibly impressed by the quality and detail of this model. The instruction booklet is exceptional. It's well-illustrated with clear, step-by-step guides and helpful 1:1 size images to identify the correct pieces. The pieces themselves are organized into numbered bags, which makes the building process very organized and manageable. I especially appreciate the attention to detail in the design; it's fascinating to see how accurately it captures the complexities of a real V8 engine. While the instructions are excellent, I did find it a bit challenging to get started. There are multiple bags with the same number, which can be a little confusing at first. Also, the illustrations show the color of the pieces from the non-numbered bags, so you need to pay close attention to determine the exact color of each component. However, once I got into the rhythm of the build, these minor quirks were easy to overcome. This set is not only a fantastic project for adults like myself, but it would also be an excellent gift for any teenager or child with an interest in engineering and how things work. It's a great way to learn about the mechanics of an engine in a fun and interactive way. Even though I haven't finished building it yet, I can confidently say this V8 engine building set is a winner.     • Well-organized kit with thorough instructions
I'm an adult and ordered this for myself; it would also be great for kids who are interested in model building. Although I haven't completely finished this model, I'm really enjoying it so far. It was a little difficult to get started, but once I felt more comfortable with the pictures in the instructions it went really well. The instructions are actually really well illustrated, and I was impressed with the high quality booklet. I can tell someone put a lot of thought and care into making this. The pieces are organized into numbered bags to help you follow which piece to use in each step. The instructions include 1:1 size pictures to help you identify the correct piece to use when there are multiple similar choices. I have some tips for anyone else who is getting started on this model: - There can be multiple bags with the same number. - The illustrations show the color of the pieces from the non-numbered bags, so if you're confused take a close look to figure out if it's a blue or black piece. ... show more

    • Big display piece, but not very functional
I've built many Technic sets over the decades. This one is pretty unique - I've never done a set like this. The finished model looks good and is pretty clear what it is. The build process isn't too boring, even though a lot of it is mirrored modules. They did a nice job of assembling them differently so it doesn't feel repetitive. However, there are some big missed opportunities. First, there's no explanation in the instructions of what anything is. It'd be great to have some text explaining what the engine parts are as you build it. Most of what you build ends up hidden inside, so you don't get to see most of the functionality. The killer problem though is the chain and gears. The chain is fragile and snaps when you turn the crank. You can reassemble it, but it's a pain to get the chain through the right gears and reconnect it. But also, the gears come loose. Several of the visible gears are sticking out pretty far from any support and so they bend back and forth as you turn the crank. After sometimes just a few seconds, they pop free. If you want a static engine model, this one is nice. But I was hoping to put a motor on it and let it run, and there is NO WAY that would survive.
