Considering the price, these are lasting me the entire school year and more, I didn't expect it to come with as much as it did. I'm pretty critical of my precious mechanical pencils so I'm pleasantly pleased with the quality. First i want to start by saying, i order these, then read reviews after. Price was good, so i just went for it. However, after reading reviews, i saw some people had issues receiving damaged cases/pens. Kind of foreboding. Fast-forward to today (overnight shipping is a bonus), i received my pens, in perfect condition. I did notice, immediately, that mine came in a case different than what others posted. A lightweight, stutdy case. With a liner in it. It was also sealed in cellophane. This tells me the company was probably paying attention to people's reviews and complaints. I respect that. The pens themselves, are beautiful. They are comfortable to hold. Its plenty of refills and erasers to draw til your imagination's content. Great addition to my art supplies. ... show more

This kit is an excellent pack for people starting their journey with graphite illustration or drawing. I picked this up because I didn't pack my normal drafting kit, and have been very happy with it. Pros: The pencils all feel good in the hand, are responsive and stable. The vinyl erasers work well on decent paper and do not catch. The leads draw quite smoothly, sharpen nicely and erase cleanly Cons: Sharpeners: ditch the razors and get a proper lead grinder for the 2mm leads, It will save you a ton of mess. Stadler makes a great barrel grinder that is fairly cheap. Lead is fairly fragile at extreme sharpness but is resilient enough at normal levels, over all it is strong enough to do super fine detail workas long as you have a light hand. The beziel that indicates the type of lead on the mechanical pencils ( .5, .7, .9) has only HB as an option. The 2mm lead holders a very light owing to the plastic body but they are sturdy. 2mm lead holders bezel indicates only 2B - 2H hardness. It's enough for this kit and includes some (B and H) that are not included. This kit lacks a kneeled eraser and gum eraser, which is absolutely essential when working with graphite. But that is a fairly easy addition. Over all I would highly recommend this kit for any beginner or people who need an cheap stop-gap kit. Update: couple months in and this kit is now part of my regular equipment for at home. The lettering paint on the pencil bodies has worn away but otherwise they are going strong. If you are gentle with them they will last a decent while. And the leads provided are quite decent. A couple of easy modifications or additions can take care of the previously mentioned shortcomings. In short, literally what the title says. They actually have a lot of perks to them like a decent rubber grip that will likely soften and become grippier over time (a little hard for my liking but they literally just got here so this is just my initial impression), or even the 2.0 cap has a sharper on it! They are definitely better than a Bic your kid will find on the floor, but also cheap enough that arguably, won’t be a big deal if they lost it like if it was a Kuru Toga Advance or something. That’s kinda the only praise I can think of giving them now. Anyone who’s curious about why I’m only giving this a 4 star and any other opinions/recommendations I have, feel free to read on: Now I knew what I was likely getting when ordering these, so I wasn’t expecting TOO much, however… As someone who does avidly collect mechanical pencils of varying qualities and brands, it seemed a bit absurd to me that the gold pencils - while admittedly look cool - are primarily plastic with only the grip section being the only “metal” part. And of course even then the metal feels cheap, which is fine! I definitely was expecting that given the price point and how much you were getting. I was honestly expecting some weight to them (I like my pencils a little heavier but that’s just preference of course), or a cooled initial touch, but not even that…. So that was a huge let down for me. The title description said metal so I assume *everything* was metal of some sort. That’s the only reason I can’t give it a 5 star rating, but what follows is more of just airing out my thoughts, nothing really much more negative than this. Being very real here, this brand is basically using molds/ideas from other established brands that sell these exact pencils at a better quality and higher price point of course. In other words, this is the store brand version of the name brand. So as long as you don’t mind/haven’t used a quality pencil like that, these should be fine! Some other things to note about both the 2.0 and 0.5, 0.7, and 0.9 varieties: 2.0 - this isn’t like the Blocky Gear 2.0 where you push the top and it works like a normal mechanical pencil. This has more a clutch mechanism, what that means that with one push, your lead could easily just fly out of your pencil. So watch out for that! 0.5, 0.7, 0.9 - I’ll be honest, the clicking to advance lead doesn’t feel very good, even Bic pencils feel better than this… This pencil though, IS metal, most of it at least is. The grip is quite slippery despite it being rubber, so give it time to soften and potentially become grippier. Listen at the end of the day, these pencils will get the job done like a regular wooden pencil would, and if you’re on a budget, these pencils are okay enough. I only got these because I was hoping the gold pencil would feel close enough to a brass pencil I had 3682737 years ago. But if I did have to recommend a pencil dupe from this brand, I would get the pencils from the BLOCKY GEAR line, they are a lot like Pentel’s Graphgear 1000 line! And it’s actually a lot more comfortable than this particular set of pencils, not to mention they feel more like metal pencils, arguably a better bang for your buck if you can afford them :) These aren’t bad pencils, just a little different from what I was expecting and definitely different from what I’m used to (that part was to be expected of course) Do what you wish with this information, I don’t care, I’m just here to give an unsolicited opinion. ... show more
