These carpet squares worked well to spruce up our closet. They were fairly easy to lay out. We thought we were paying close enough attention to the changes in color based on which direction tiles were laid to alternate dark and light to create a pattern. We made a couple of mistakes in that area but ultimately for a closet we weren’t overly worried about it. Pro tip: use 3m 77 adhesive spray. These are very easy to install. However lots of cons: Each tile varies on size and color. Some are light gray some are darker. Each tiles varies in size, most are close to 12x12, but each one varies every so slightly. Those missing mm start to add up and become noticeable. Overall I am pleased with them. I installed in two different rooms and the adhesive was completely different in both orders. One the backing was falling off and the adhesive wasn't as strong and the other the adhesive seemed great but was hard to even tear off the backing but I'd prefer better adhesion. It says to install on subfloor, unfortunately mine is plywood and the adhesion wasn't that great. In the second room I painted with Killz primer and it went much better. I installed following horizontal lines and you can see some variations in the carpet tile but I desperately needed a fast solution to pull out some old and stained carpet in the house I recently purchased. In a cabin this will do well until I decide to install laminate or thicker carpet. It would be good for basements, rec rooms but I'd go with something thicker for a living room. For the price it can't be beat. You do need to get into the flow of installing to get it to look seamless. And follow the directions and look up YouTube videos on finding the centre of the room with a chalk line. It was a bit confusing to me but I eventually figured it out. The first room I was in a rush and just started at one wall and the results were okay but imperfect and it takes some practice so I would recommend practicing first in a closet or area that isn't high traffic until you get the hang of it. ... show more

I bought these to make stepstools less slippery for my cat to use as stairs, and they're perfect for that! I wouldn't dream of putting these down on an actual floor. Much too cheap for that.

the package only contained 11 carpet squares instead of 12. I use these for a homemade cat scratcher setup. My cats rip them up over a couple of months and then I replace them. It would have been great to get all 12 squares as I use 4 it a time.

so i bought this for the extra play room that we had added on for the kiddos. I read the other reviews first and was somewhat worrried about the adhesive not being sticky enough however the every square I put down had a really good amount of adhesive, actually I had to sometimes fight with the back paper to get it off because there was so much. It was easily enough to do though so that is a plus. My biggest disappoiintment was the color is definitely not consistent. Mine actually had three different shades of squares -light, dark and darker, so I probably should have tried to do some kind of pattern, but did not. My eye sight is poor so I really didn't notice it too much as I was doing the process but the over finish you can surely see the variations of color. The pieces are very thin so don't expect them to be plush. But regardless, it was a quick fix and cheap enough so I am pleased with the outcome. On a side note if you have any kind of OCD,, then I would recommend you do a pattern for the variations of color. ... show more
