🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

Customers report significant issues with this machine's ability to handle demanding tasks and production speeds, particularly with hardwoods. Durability concerns are raised with regular bit snapping and mechanical failures, including plunging issues and gantry crashes. Despite customer service efforts, the machine's hardware limitations and overall construction quality seem to undercut its potential as a reliable production tool.

Pros

  • 🛠 Customer service is responsive and assists with troubleshooting
  • 🧰 Users are able to become very familiar with the machine parts due to hands-on maintenance

Cons

  • 🔩 High failure rate with parts snapping and gantry issues
  • 🪵 Inability to handle promised workloads on hardwoods, causing waste of materials
  • 🛑 Mechanical inaccuracies leading to ruined work pieces and additional costs
  • 🌀 Wobbling and stability issues with ball screws, affecting precision

Should I Buy It?

Based on these reviews, this machine may not be suitable for serious craftsmen or those needing reliable production capabilities. If you require a heavy-duty, precision tool for regular use, it may be wise to consider alternative options.

  • STAY Away it is not a so called production machine
Customer Service was excellent.... 3 months of the machine had no clue how to cut. They sent out replacement parts and finally a new machine. After 10's of thousands of dollars on waster hardwood slabs. After 30 cuts the machine grew a mind of its own. Would plunge outside or cut thru the entire carving and ruin it. Now after three months they tell me the machine isnt for what I do. When before I bought they said it would handle hardwood, it is a production machine and can handle 2.5" and numerous cuts on the table. It would snap bits daily since it would plunge un expected and not only ruin the piece but ruin my day! They did an excellent job helping me on my own dime take everthing apart and change the parts. I know the machine like the back of my hand! in short do yourself a favor and stay away. If you plan on doing 1 bowl a week at 1/16th deep this is your machine. However dont fool for there spindle it cant get out of its own way! I could go on..... documented videos and pictures and emails in the hundreds sent to Next Wave. Disgusted how this machine operated! ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY A SHARK! Save your money and go elsewhere!
It may look like a nice machine...but DON"T buy one. I recently got the HD520 and and 3HP water-cooled spindle package. Upon leveling my table, placing the machine on the top, turning it on, and running fot the first time, the gantry CRASHED against the slits in the side-walls and refused to travel the full length. I had to unfasten the entire side wall and let it merely sit on the table against the machine! I am now trying to install the ECool syste for the liquid-cooled spindle. The assembler who initally put this system together permanently KINKED one of the hoses when he/she assembled it. So now I have to replace that hose before I can even turn this thing on. The ballscrews used are not thick enough. If you look inside while the gantry is moving back and forth along the long axis, it clearly wobbles around it's central axis while it's turning to move the gantry back and forth. The ballscrew used to move the cutting tool up-and-down on the Z -Axis is NOT fixed/mounted at the botom, so when you raise the Z-axis, more and more wobble is introduced into the entire ballscrew. CRIPES!!! Save your money and look at something else, like an Axoim, etc. I'm going to sell enough product made with this machine to get my money back and then get rid of it. ... show more
