  • Super excited about this!
I purchased this system as a gift for my two-year-old and four-year-old children and decided to set it up beforehand to test how it functions. I was pleasantly surprised by how straightforward the setup process was—it’s incredibly user-friendly, even for someone with little to no technical experience. Navigating the system and getting it ready to use was a breeze, which gave me confidence that it would work well for my young children. When testing the gameplay, I found the motion tracking to be highly accurate, consistently capturing my movements without any noticeable glitches. This was contrary to some reviews I had read, where users mentioned issues with tracking and occasional glitches. However, I carefully followed the detailed instructions provided, which included helpful tips such as avoiding wearing clothing that matches the background, limiting the number of people in the frame, and steering clear of heavily patterned clothing. These guidelines likely helped optimize the system’s performance. Overall, I’m thrilled to gift this to my children on Christmas morning. It’s an intuitive and well-designed system that I believe even my two-year-old will be able to navigate and enjoy. The combination of ease of use and reliable performance has exceeded my expectations, and I’m confident it will provide hours of fun for my little ones. ... show more

  • So fun to just let loose and not be a zombified gamer
I purchased the Nex Playground system for my family (two adults, 9 yo and 12 yo) as an early holiday gift. This is has been a true gift--our tweens are independent and are spending more time on their own. This system has brought us together in the spirit of fun, of movement, of competition, and of simply cheering on each other! Admittedly, my husband and I both work from home, and when our kids feel like watching YouTube, we tend to lose track of how long they watch for, and it definitely affects their behavior if they watch too long (more like when they watch too long...). Concurrently, my husband and I work at our desks all day, sometimes remembering to get up and move, sometimes not. With Nex, we move, and get as silly as our kids, and laugh, and get winded, and step away, then we do it all over again! It is sooooo fun!! Since buying Nex Playground nearly two months ago, we've all played nearly every day (though some illness has hit our family). It is perfect? No--it catches some incendiary movement from non-players sometimes, but clearly the developers take constructive criticism from the community of players very seriously, and they work, and they test, and they fix. We have an old Wii, and an XBox, and there's plenty of opportunity for all of us to become vidiots and zombies. We come alive with Nex Playground and have a blast together. Easy to set up, plenty of games to choose from in the annual play pack (we're still discovering new games and all of the layers to them). Best purchase ever! ... show more

  • Amazingly fun gaming system
I can’t say enough good things about the Nex! My kids (12 and 3) and I play ‘the square game’ at least once a day. We did purchase the play pass so we could have access to all of the games, and it’s nice that there are games added regularly as well as holiday themed things added to certain games. We had an issue with our remote and their customer service was amazing! They helped us by offering a replacement, and even gave us some tips to see if our tv remote was compatible while we waited for the new remote. The games get you laughing, keep you moving and active, and there is no danger of throwing a remote at the TV since you don’t have to hold on to anything to play. 10/10 and I definitely have recommended this game system to all of my friends! ... show more

  • Highly recommend. A lot of fun for a wide range of ages
I was looking for a birthday gift for my 13 year old son. Somehow came across this device that I had not even heard of a few weeks ago. I read through the reviews and it sounded like something that was definitely worth a shot for a hard-to-shop for teenage boy with a limited attention span. After setting it up, but before giving it to him, I bought a playground subscription to unlock all of the games and then tested it out with my 3 other sons, ages 15, 18 & 19. It’s fun, engaging, easy to use and has a variety of games to choose from. Some of the games are definitely for little kids, you can hide those in settings if you want. But most of the games are perfect for any age. The arcade basketball is a hit around here, it’s cool to be able to compete side by side to shoot as many balls as you want in a timed period. It became very competitive complete with trash talking. I’ll take it any day over them scattered around the house on their computers. Bowling & connect 4 bounce are also really fun. There are still quite a few more games we are eager to try out, a rarity to get everyone involved in something fun. I’m extremely happy with this little cube. When the older 2 kids were young, we had an Xbox 360 Kinect. That was fun and still probably would be but it’s different in that this tiny cube has way better tracking & recognition abilities. It’s also much easier to set up, operate and get started. Personally I prefer the Nex’s game subscription that includes a variety of good (many licensed from Hasbro or wherever) games. Buying 1 new game for a PlayStation, Xbox, switch etc costs about the same as a 3 month subscription to this system and a year at $99 is about the same cost as a (new)game and a half. Sometimes those expensive new games are duds and it sucks. I never tried the subscription system to Xbox, maybe it was good, but I never saw anything listed that made it sound appealing enough to throw more money at it on top of the purchased games. The Nex adds new games monthly and shows the upcoming titles on the main menu. I highly recommend this for any age, I initially was worried it might be too young and kiddish for a 13 year old, but after actually playing with it there are multiple games for any age. I think the marketing could be a little better to reach out to a variety of age groups. Having it called a ‘playground’ with dopey background music during setup was a little off putting. But I’m very happy I took the risk. Everyone is enjoying it, including myself. ... show more
