These worked very well after my eye surgery. At first, I needed to apply cold compresses but the gauze got warm right away. I put a partially frozen one over the wet gauze and it kept it nice and cold for the full 10 mins. It was also easy to wipe the surface of the eye mask with an alcohol pad to keep it clean. The surgeon said my bruising was minimal because I did a great job with the compresses. After a few days, when swelling settles in, you’re supposed to do warm compresses. You have to be careful when you microwave the eye mask. It gets VERY HOT quickly but I found 18 secs to be perfect for me. Move the beads around after microwaving it and use a thin towel or sterile gauze between you and the eye mask. It was so soothing, I often fell asleep while using it. I am so glad I had these. It was nice to treat both eyes at the same time and after all my use, they still look brand new. ... show more

Overall, this mask is pretty good for the price. Just keep in mind that you'll need to take it out of the freezer to thaw at least 15/20 minutes before you actually want to use it because it freezes completely solid.
