The fuzzy side of the mask is nice and soft, like a a cloth between the cold mask and your face. I would not recommend it for a post blepharplasty ice pack. I found that the mask was uncomfortably tight against my eyes when I used the Velcro, and just barely fit across my eyes.

Update: I misplaced my first one so ordered a second one. That one melted in the microwave. I have been dealing with clogged oil glands in my eyelids and am supposed to use heat massage. The ophthalmologist recommended rice pack eye cozies. That works well, but the rice smells burned after a while. This seems to last longer. ... show more

I got these for both cold and hot during the healing phase post eye surgery. They worked so great as cold packs that were gentle and comfortable. There is a soft fuzzy side and a plastic side. I used both as the ice pack warmed up. Then, when I needed the warm option. The eye masks can be microwaved to heat. I did have an incident with one of the masks. I got distracted and heated the hot pack past the recommended time in the instructions, and the eye mask exploded. That was my fault though. These worked very well after my eye surgery. At first, I needed to apply cold compresses but the gauze got warm right away. I put a partially frozen one over the wet gauze and it kept it nice and cold for the full 10 mins. It was also easy to wipe the surface of the eye mask with an alcohol pad to keep it clean. The surgeon said my bruising was minimal because I did a great job with the compresses. After a few days, when swelling settles in, you’re supposed to do warm compresses. You have to be careful when you microwave the eye mask. It gets VERY HOT quickly but I found 18 secs to be perfect for me. Move the beads around after microwaving it and use a thin towel or sterile gauze between you and the eye mask. It was so soothing, I often fell asleep while using it. I am so glad I had these. It was nice to treat both eyes at the same time and after all my use, they still look brand new. ... show more
