I have a partially torn Achilles tendon on my right foot. I decided to not have surgery - the recovery process would have been too activity restricted, so instead I opted for physical therapy with a great therapist. I had been looking for shoes that would offer me greater ankle stability than normal
athlecit shoes could, and in the listing copy these sounded just about right. I can wear 12-1/2 wides, but as that size wasn't available I went with 13 Ds. They fit very well when I first put them on, including a properly sized toebox. When I took my first steps I was surprised at how heavily cushioned they felt, but as I continued to wear them I became more accustomed to a cushioned heel with adequate arch support. I have a very high instep and usually can't use the uppermost eyelets for laces, but with these shoes I had adequate lace length to go through them, and they provided me with extra stability as well. Four Stars because I'm still "breaking them in," but so far, very good. Another very good pair from NB, and I expect my enthusiasm for them to continue to grow over time. Of course your mileage may vary, but for me, they are Just What I Needed.

Both shoes will be worn throughout the weekend event. I have been a fan of New Balance for decades and have never been let down when it comes to quality.

These shoes have just plainly cheap laces and insoles if I would have worn them sooner I would have sent both pair back. These are a comfortable shoe time will tell except its hard for me to wear out a pair of shoes I only wear them once a week because have 7 pairs so they have a week to air out that

Tongue is not wide enough. Not the usual from New Balance.
I have exclusively bought New Balance shoes for the last 15+ years now because of the quality they bring to the table. This pair of shoes is quality made but has one major flaw for me, the tongue is not even close to being wide enough. It is as if they took the tongue for a much smaller size of shoe
that is normal width and just super-imposed it on this pair. I ordered a 14 X-Wide and the shoe itself fits fine. However, I struggle to close the tongue gap not show my socks. Sometimes I can pull it tight enough to and sometimes I have about 1/4 inch or more gap on one side. I've never had this problem with any pair of shoes, let alone New Balance. It's embarrassing. The tongue for this shoe, for any wide or other shoe, should be about a 1/2 inch wider than what it is. I bought three pairs at once and this is the first one I am finally getting to after my other ones wore out so there is no recourse for returns. Severely disappointed. The other thing I noticed with this pair is that it has a bit of a forward lean to them when standing. It pushes your toes to the front.
