After assembling I thought I would write a review on the current state of what you receive. The parts arrived carefully bound and packed in layers of foam, without any breakage except for a guide piece that had come unglued. There are around 55 parts and they are clearly numbered with barcode stickers. You don't need any tools. I assembled it solo, took it at a leisurely pace to avoid errors, and it took several hours. The company-made assembly video is too fast to follow step by step, but it helps to get yourself oriented and points out the tricky moments. There were a few parts where I really had to patiently work to get a piece in place (the door stands out) but I never felt like anything was going to break and 99% of it was very easy. At this point, I haven't made any adaptations other than putting screws above the roosting bars to keep them from being knocked off, because my plans are to use it as a transition coop for pullets. But for what it is, it's a simple, solid unit with a good amount of space, that can be adapted for airflow/roosts without a ton of fuss. It definitely would be great if they added a big cleaning door - it would double people's approval of its design. So that's really the main issue in my view. The roof really isn't that hard to get on and off, although I wouldn't want to do it on the daily. But that's something, in view of cleaning and later adjustments. ... show more

We have the smaller version of this too and was expecting this larger one to be of the same quality. I’m not sure what happened but the jumbo size was a major let down. Several parts were broken or could easily be broken from light use. The smaller size is perfect though which is what I don’t understand. If I could do over I would just buy something else. Most of this I'll just list as a bullet point. If there is a part of a bullet point that could be improved further I'll put that in parenthesis "()". So first the good... * It is relatively easy to assemble (parts are numbered in black ink, on the black parts it is annoyingly hard to see the numbers) * Size wise it is good The not so great... * I had a part broken, the manual says to contact them for a replacement but the parts don't even ship for 2-3 days. If Amazon hadn't sucked on shipping this like it did and if the packing wasn't going to be an absolute nightmare I would have just ordered a replacement. All in all, just hope you don't have any broken parts as there is no scenario that is a good option, unfortunately. * The roosting bars just sit in brackets with nothing holding them in place. The problem is that the bracket sides aren't that high. My chickens knock the bars off just by using them. (Make the brackets substantially taller on the sides or add a thumb screw to the exterior) * The door has a cheap twist latch. There is little protection from predators. (The latch is hollow, adding a pin that inserted into this would be ideal and shouldn't be difficult...I added a locking barrel pin to mine and use a carabiner to secure it) * The corners of the floor are cut out to make the interior easy to clean. This is an excellent feature, but again leaves the coop open to snakes. (Could the corner sizes be increased and secured with a thumb screw?) * The nesting box only "locks" on one side. It seems like it would be fairly easy to add one to both so one side couldn't be pulled on. The TL;DR;, this is an easy coop to build and will comfortably house several chickens. If you live in an area where predators are likely I'd plan on modifying it a bit to make it more secure. ... show more

This is a nice coop. But it is very hard to clean. The roof needs to be lift able so you can get it up and clean inside. I am considering putting side opening arms on the roof.

Took a a long time to get it which was the freight company's fault. Not sure why it was not shipped FedEx as it is not too big/heavy of a package. The coop is very roomy, though the roosting bard are useless as they do not stay put. My girls prefer the ground anyways. I did not install the floor for better airfloor. Instructions can be somewhat confusing. But once its put together its really nice. Love the red. Took me about 1 hr by myself. The roof is very slick, which is where my girls like to sunbathe so I covered it with non skid tape. They seem happy and thats the main part. ... show more

It's ok. It served its purpose but I wouldn't say it's worth $500^^. I've used coops that were more worth their price. Had some slats break, its only corrugated plastic. Trying to use warranty for new pieces, will update with response.

We got this as a home for a few ducks. It was easy to put together. Not as easy to clean as I had hoped. Yes you can hose it off easily, but getting the bedding out first is awkward. The angles make it difficult to get a pitchfork or shovel in to scoop out bedding. It all has to come out the top so you don't have much room to maneuver your pitchfork. It would be much nicer if it opened on the side. A huge complaint that I have is the door. The latch broke within the first two weeks. We have been basically piling stuff up in front of the opening to keep the ducks safe. We have had it for six months and it's ok. Just ok. We have had many different animal houses over the years and this one is adequate. I would never recommend it or buy it again though. ... show more

Love this chicken coop ! Wasn’t hard to put together. We added the peep show sign just a little humor for the new chicks on the farm. Although the chicks are not in it yet, a couple more weeks and I’m sure they will be loving their new coop.
