  • Fast
I purchased this 815S as an upgrade from my 781S. It is a lot faster for sure. The only thing I don't like about it is the touch screen. Before I removed the protective plastic cover that it shipped with the touch screen was fine. After I peeled the protective plastic sheet off I noticed the surface has a rubbery feel to it, and is not clear. The touch screen does not work as well as it did. I found that you just need to barely touch the screen to make a selection. It isn't as responsive as it was with the thin plastic shipping protective covering. My 781S does not have that rubbery feel, it has a solid smooth surface and is very responsive. Aside from this issue it was easy to set up and is very fast. Would be nice to have some settings explained, like what IPV4 is vs IPV6 vs IPV4V6. I found out it only works with IPV4, and good 'ole google came through with info about the protocals. ... show more

  • factory reset and loose TS9 connectors
Bought this mobile hot spot about a year ago for $200. I needed the external TS9 connectors to hook up to a higher gain antenna so that I could get signal at our house (see photo). Without external antenna I got no signal/no bars on the AC815S. With external antenna connected via the TS9 I got about 1 or 2 bars of signal that translated to up to 15Mbps wifi download speed on android phones and up to 30 Mbps on computers. The issues are that the TS9 connectors are push on type and tend to get loose very easily. The other issue is that after a year my older phone (running android 8) could no longer receive the wifi signal. I wasted a day troubleshooting between cricket provider and netgear to discover that a factory reset of the AC815S will fix the problem. However the problem came back the next day so looks like I'll have to do a factory reset every day or get rid of my old phone. ... show more

  • Is NOT unlocked. At least my sample was not
Description said unlocked and could use T-Mobile or Att sims. Mine couldn’t. Installed t mobs valid sim and it would see a good tmob signal for a moment then would get kicked off and say no signal available. Went into the broadband menu in settings, did a network scan and reported no signal. Do not know how it would have worked on att sim and didn’t care. Wanted an unlocked unit ... show more

  • Great Device But READ Amber's Review above
I don't think my device was refurbished, but I do think it was a group of extras that someone from an ATT shop had and someone sold them to the merchant. This was not like what I have received in unlocked devices. This device would have been unusable if Amber had not posted what she did. I found T-Mobile's APN online and adjusted so that I could use the device. Without that, it constantly dropped the connection. It made the carrier's SIM unusable. The merchant mailed this out a week early and I was so excited, then I wondered if it was a defect or something. Thank you, Amber. ... show more

  • Nice little hotspot for Fi
Works really well. Unlock code provided and after configuring the APN and enabling it, it works perfectly on 4g LTE. You may need to configure the APN for non ATT networks. It's not complicated but necessary for the device to communicate with your cellular data provider.

  • WOW -- Netgear Does it again‼️ (Learn to use before rating)
I had my concern after reading the reviews. But after getting the device, I realized people who left negative reviews simply lacked knowledge and the initiative to find it. 1. The device has to charge for a while or it won't turn on 2. The device shows "NO BROADBAND CONNECTION" because it is pointing to a default ATT APN. You have to CREATE a new APN. I Didn't even have to fill in many APN settings got at the funnest -- there were only 4 options. A) sign into the device's wifi using the password shown on the device B) a configuration page will pop up ( if it doesn't, then type this address in your browser 192.168.1.1 C) click the three bars on the top left, then navigate to "Broadband >> APN " Select "NEW" (APN) (LOOK up your service provider's default APN Settings), then fill in the details and save. You should have internet immediately after it reboots, assuming you have an active SIM. card properly installed. This device replaced my 5 year old device. And it doesn't disappoint. ... show more
