Just received replacement camera, as original did not work. Found out the original cable was at fault not camera. Replaced new using old cable had same problem, changed cable and plug and Voila! Works great!

    • Things to know
I have about 15 Nest cameras: indoor, outdoor, 1st gen, 2d gen IQ etc. Lots. They work pretty well. But the administration behind them is a mess. Examples. Virtually all my Nest Aware subscriptions allowing me to access recording history epxired without being auto-renewed or notice. I found this out of course when I really needed to access the history. Also, there's massive confusion between the Nest site and the Google Home site. Some things work on one and not the other. Settings have to be set on one and not the other. So complicated they have multiple charts trying to provide road maps between different cameras, features and the two sites. Eyes blur at the confusion. And the worst: you can no longer view video history on your laptop or ipad. Only on the tiny screen of an iphone. Try to read a license plate or discern a face or see what somebody might be carrying out of your house on an phone screen, blurred when blown up. Google "posssibly" will make video history once again available on your computer screen (as it has been for a dozen years or more). Who thought this was a good idea?? And more admin problems: accounts are easily screwed up; subscription renewals can't be found by the Google Store people despite having hte order numbers and on and on. And when you click chat on the support confirmation email? Its a broken link. From Google. So: as long as everythign is working perfectly (as it usually does, other than the only-on-phone-screen new issue), you're fine. The instant you have to interact with the Google Store it all goes downhill very quickly. ... show more
