  • Great - Consistent coffee drinks from a beautiful machine
I stressed about buying a "pod" machine for some time. I didn't like the feeling of being held to corporate pods and I resisted the "idiot-proof" nature of a machine like this, but I accepted the fact that I am not interested in coffee enough to master hard core barista techniques so I took the plunge with this machine. It was a great decision. This machine is beautiful, functional, easy to use and makes fantastic espresso, cappuccino and latte drinks consistently and I highly recommend it. If you dont have access to a Nespresso Boutique for your pod purchases you can get very fast delivery from their online store with reasonable shipping (but I think it should be free). I also debated a long time between this machine and the one with the attached milk frothing device. I decided to buy that separately because I didnt want the machine to take up too much counter space and the separate frother can be stored in the cupboard. ... show more

  • We love our CitiZ!!
We've had this thing since early Nov 2012, and use it quite a bit -- every day, averaging 4-5 shots a day, so that's maybe 300 shots and counting. Here are some random thoughts about our experience so far: ---------------------- GOOD STUFF: ---------------------- * The espresso is very good. Intense flavor, thick crema, just yummy. I won't claim to be a coffee connoisseur, but I've had *bad* coffee before, and this is not it. :-) I'll say it this way -- I think strbucks is pretty good, I think kcups are pretty bad. This is way up at the strbucks end of the spectrum. I personally think it's *better* than strbucks, but I can't be sure -- it might just be because I don't enjoy standing in line. * It's quick, it's consistent, it's easy, *dangerously* easy. To make a shot of espresso (warm the machine up, insert a coffee capsule, push the button) takes about 2 minutes. Cleaning up afterwards takes another minute. * It's fun to try making "recipe" drinks -- latte', cappuccino, macchiato, ... the Nespresso web page has suggestions and methods. * In 2 1/2 months, we've already recovered (based on strbucks prices) the cost of the machine. And that's without considering the *time* we save, the added enjoyment of being in our own cozy home, etc. (We didn't necessarily buy the machine to save money. Just sayin.. even if it falls apart the day after the 1 yr warranty ends, we'll happily buy another.) * Optional: For extra credit, you can snip the foil lids off the capsules, compost the spent coffee, and recycle the aluminum shells. In that case, there's very little trash left behind. ---------------------- BAD STUFF: ---------------------- * We did have a bit of trouble with the machine right out of the box (the pump wouldn't prime). However, the Nespresso guys were very responsive, helped us resolve the problem. Since then, we've been working the machine pretty hard and haven't had any trouble. * If you enjoy the art/ritual aspect of espresso -- grinding, tamping, drawing the shot, knocking the grinds, cleaning and preening -- if that's what floats your boat, this is not the machine for you. ... show more

  • Fabulous machine, service and coffee!
I had a Tassimo machine, which I liked until the recall. Their handling of backorders and refunds was horrible and their customer service was like any other call center. It took forever to receive orders and the selection locally was unacceptable. So I decided to buy this Nespresso and get rid of the Tassimo. Wow! What great coffee! Their Club actually treats you like a valued customer. My first shipment did not arrive as promised so they sent another shipment overnight with no shipping charge. I had the Tassimo because I liked the barcode technology and I thought we would drink the specialty beverages. But as it turns out, all we really wanted was espresso. The Nespresso does it better. You have to accept that you are not going to get USA sized cups of coffee, but a Lungo or Espresso is all I need or want. Perfect solution. This machine is as fast and makes about the same amount of noise. So, at the outset, I am delighted with Nespresso and I am looking forward to my journey of tasting all of their varieties.
