I have a pit bull who liked the previous food she was eating. However, the food just didn't agree with her. This food agrees with her and she seems to look healthier. I also have a medium sized terrier who has gained weight. The vet recommended she lose a couple of pounds. I now have her on this diet. We will see if she loses a couple of pounds. I try not to switch dog foods if I can avoid it. Pet owners know that switching foods is not only costly but it needs to be done over the course of many, many days to avoid making your pet sick. Not a fun experience for the Pet or Pet Parent. What do you do when your pet refuses to eat though? My Husband and I went through years of this with our German Shepherd. He would eat a food for several months and then one day he would just refuse. I could tell he didn't really love any of the things we were feeding him because he was never very excited about meal times. Just for clarification, I've had two previous GSDs and never had this kind of a problem before. In the beginning we went to several different Vets and spent thousands of dollars on tests just to be sure there wasn't some underlying cause for why my dog was refusing to eat but we were never able to find a reason or a solution. After that we began switching foods and he'd eat the new food for a while and then seem to get tired of it and just stop. At one point, I was ordering $90.00 bags of dog food out of Canada and thank goodness we weren't also paying for shipping. I finally stumbled upon Nature′s Recipe several years back and this has been the first and only dog food that my dog gets excited about meal times for. I very nearly could have cried with relief. Not only that, but my dog has never turned up his snout at it either. I am NOT exaggerating when I say that my husband and I searched for years.. There are definitely cheaper dog foods out there and believe me there are much more expensive ones too. I trust the quality of this product .. and I trust my dog's instincts. We switched to this brand of dog food because of the rice and chicken recipe, looking to reduce the amount of shedding our bigger dog does. So far, we’ve loved it as it seems to work! We hadn’t had issues with the food until this time around, when we ordered two 24lbs bags a few weeks ago. We noticed the food smelled so much stronger before we even opened the bags to empty in the dogs’ food bin. Dry dog food never smells pleasant, but the bags gave off a malodor akin to rotting cheese upon opening. This is the first time it’s happened, but we would like for their to be an explanation for why both bags just reek the way they do. ... show more

I just recently switched dog food for both my puppy and older dog to this dog food and both love it. My puppy was a picky eater but gobbles this up in seconds. I do wish the bay had a resealable section though. Overall great dog food for all ages of dogs.
