  • Not very heavy duty
I was using these to apply styrofoam insulation to the side of my house. They bend very easily, especially if you’re pounding them into thick or hard wood, and you’ll find yourself pulling them out as they get bent. Plan accordingly. I ended up bending about 1/4 of them and once they’re bent they’re unusable. That said, I’m not sure if there are any other comparable nails like this which would be more durable, so maybe it could just be my inadequate carpentry skills. ... show more

  • Need to hammer carefully
I used these nails (100 to a box) to secure 2” foam board to studs and rafters in my attic. These ring shanked nails worked well but, as noted by other reviewers, these 3” long thin nails bend easily. You cannot be sloppy in hammering. An off-center hammer blow will result in a bent nail. I ended up choking up on my hammer to drive these nails home. ... show more

  • Not for nailing 1-1/2" Styrofoam to plywood
The nails are pretty thin. The crew tried to use these to nail 1-1/2" Styrofoam to plywood, and the nails bent. I went up and found them drilling the holes larger in the plastic caps and using screws. We finally used 3" roofing nails.

  • Just what I needed for 2" XPS foam board insulation
Couldn't find 3" length in local big box stores. These do the trick!
