  • Fun discoveries!
Style: Gemstones
I purchased this for my 6 year old boys birthday. He is having so much fun finding several gems and “real life ” gold! We’re Rich!!” My 9 year old daughter is probably more excited doing it with him and loves the discovery process. Definitely worth the purchase and now will need to buy more!!

  • Lots of gems
Style: Gemstones
I purchased this for my 8 year old nephew and it did not disappoint. There were so many gems in it and the value for the money was well worth it. It kept him busy and curious for quite a while.

  • Great gift and activity!
Style: Gemstones
We got this for a gift for our son’s 7th bday and he LOVED it! He got right into it and it kept him busy for a good hour or so. Every rock/gem he found was welcomed by a burst of excitement! It can get pretty messy so it’s a good outdoor project. I wouldn’t recommend it for kids under 4. The rocks can be kinda small and might need extra help from an adult or older kid. He did the shark tooth kit around Christmas time and he loved that as well. Super fun and recommend it to a friend. ... show more

  • OK activity-Needs bigger stones and the correct stones
Style: Gemstones
This was a Christmas present activity. We have done something like this before and the last time everything was covered in dust. The patio, the kids and myself. No need to think it's going to help your back yard grow. We through some pieces in our yard 6 months ago and they have never dissolved. This time I decided to keep it soaked in water in a large Tupperware bowl. It did keep down the mess, but it still took some time to clean up. I attached a picture of the stones we had in our kit. I can say the stone that is supposed to be sodalite is probably blue aventurine. The agate is one of the ugliest I've ever seen. I wish there was a little more size to the stones. You can use the quarter in the picture as a reference. All in all it's a fun activity to do with kids. ... show more

  • It’s a wonderful deal!
Style: Birthstones
I purchased this for myself, not for my child, lol. Don’t judge I’m still a kid at heart! A lot of people are complaining about the cost of the product compared to the size of the Birthstones. I can tell you now, this is a great deal! I’ve tried in every way possible to purchase these gems on their own, hoping I could get stones that are a little bigger. Well it can’t be done for under $50… $70 if I go with a merchant I’m familiar with. It’s been almost impossible to find stones of this quality let alone all in one set. One of mine was questionable considering it looked almost black. I’m a little unsure which stone it is but it lights up a really dark blue when placed on my phone flashlight so I am confident enough that it’s not an issue. Yes they’re small but they’re genuine semi-precious stones. The opal is beautiful. Someone mentioned that the pearl didn’t look real. Most pearls are misshapen or oblong. You can tell by washing then rubbing the stone across your teeth it will feel gritty, for lack of a better term (it’s a genuine way to tell) you can also put it under a fluorescent light, the pearl will react due to it’s natural properties. Rubies light up under UV lights. I’m a bit of a gem-aholic, lol. All in all It’s totally worth it and I would most definitely purchase again! ... show more

  • Very entertaining for the kids
Style: Gemstones
I got this on a deal so great value for the money for me. I think the National Geographic kits are great. The quality is decent. Sure, it’s messy but the kids enjoy looking for all the stones and fossils or whichever kit you bought. None of these kits some with large stones. You aren’t really buying it for that. This is more for the thrill of finding them. If you just want large stones it’s probably best to buy them separately or maybe a much more expensive kit may have them. My kids have done these and this one is a gift. My nephew loves looking for the stones and gems. ... show more

  • So much fun and great for kids
Style: Birthstones
This is the third dig kit we have bought our 6 and 8 year old daughters over the past three years. They now ask for them on every occasion and get so excited when the kits arrive. They spend at least an hour digging and discovering all the stones. They are now at the age where they love crafting and actually use the stones in their jewelry creating and gifting them to friends and family. ... show more
