  • Great Product! Delivers as Promised!
Over the past two days my wife and I have been installing this product on our south facing garage door in Greensboro, GA. We are still waiting to for the foam to adhere to the tape before we use the door again - but - wanted to share some early results. Results: I happen to have a FLIR thermal camera and was able to take some readings this morning with the sun hitting the door. You can see in the first image taken from the outside of the door the surface temperature is about 106 degrees. The same panel from the inside registered at 81 degrees. The ambient temperature in the garage at the time was 81 degrees. Installation: A few notes on installation. We followed the manufacture's process and it went fairly well. It was a two person job for sure. Our door has different sized panels so we had to do some trimming of the foam but that was not hard. So it was tricky but not too challenging - and the results are great. The third picture above shows the work half way done. The final picture shows the work done. All - in all a clever design to solve a common problem. ... show more

  • Great, Affordable Solution For Hot Garages
This thin, lightweight material is easy to cut with the knife shipped in the kit. The provided, two-sided tape seems to hold the insulation securely to the garage door as well. Time will tell. It took me about four-hours to insulate my two-car garage door. There were a few small pieces of insulation left at the end of the project. I ran out of tape, but there was just enough. Some tips: Measure twice, and then cut one-panel-at-a-time. Test-fit each panel before putting on the adhesive tape. (While my door panels looked identical in size, there were not.) Use the flat plastic blade tool provided in the kit to push the adhesive tape onto the foil side of the insulation. Use it again to secure the panels to the door. Working from the center to to the edges will straighten tape. I found a carpenters framing square helpful for making the 64+ cuts necessary to size all of the panels. My garage door gets direct sun from dawn until mid-afternoon. The insulation makes a noticeable difference in the interior temperature. Quick shipping. Competitive price. Excellent seller offered 24/7 support and his cell phone number in the instructions. ... show more

  • Garage door insulation hints and comments
I used this to attach to a garage door in Florida. Theres quite a lot of work in sizing and notching. The panels may not be exactly the same width as the supplied material. If you are NOT handy with a measuring tape, straight edge and cutting knife then you may want to think twice! Dont overdue the tape. Theres enough? but not if you attach more than recommended. Cut and dry fit first. Then roll up. attach to tape ENSURING you have placed accurately. Do NOT "pull" when attaching!!! Place/stick...stuff has some stretch. Attach straight and square, otherwise "ripples" will form. Caution. repositioning is hard. Tape is really strong making the material hard to reposition!!! Take your time. It took me 8 hrs to size and attach panels to a 16' 5 panel door. This is NOT a 10 minute job!!!. Does it work. Yes. door gets hot outside warm on inside. Have not measured scientifically. But per instructions. Air gap between outer door panel and material must be maintained. BTW. One person can manage to attach but two cool headed persons would be better!!!! Remember. You MUST start off parallel to the door panel. Repositioning is NOT an option ... show more

  • I Can Hardly Believe it!
I'm glad i researched garage door insulation kits and ecstatic i chose this particular product. Firstly, i could tell the difference in temperature as each panel went up. I can't believe how much cooler the garage is immediately after install! I live in FLorida and it's already hot currently 84degrees on March 14th. Secondly, the price is right for a two car garage. Thirdly, the owner responded quickly when i had a question. Fourthly, the product is certainly less than 3 pounds of weight (perhaps with installation kit and packaging it's less than 5 pounds in the mail). Other heavier kits will take a toll on the garage door moter! Fifthly, it's as easy (if not easier) to install than what i anticipate other types of kits would be. Make sure you clean surfaces before taping and allow at least two hours for tape to settle in adherance before attatching product. i waited days so i could have help. I have hurricane bars on my garage door and it actually helped to secure the product. It's best if you have a helper as two sets of hands are better than one when it comes to affixing the product. I spent a couple hours cleaning and taping by myself a few days before i got a friend to help me today to do the rest in under two hours! BEST INVESTMENT I'VE MADE IN A WHILE. I'm ceretain it is just as effective for keeping garage worm in cold weather. ... show more

  • Definitely Worth The Cost and Effort!
Well, I debated on how to insulate my West-facing aluminum garage door that acts like a giant radiant heater for the interior. I settled on this package because it comes with everything you need! The worst part is all the prep for installation. The double sided thin foam tape works great and I have a bunch left over from my 16' wide door 4 panels 21" high. It isn't necessary to remove all of the hinges and wheel mounts like I did and risk dropping an entire 16' panel out of the door... like I did! You will have to remove the hurricane braces (for those in the South) for a good installation. I replaced the seal at the bottom since it was hard, flat, and 15 years old. That was a treat. All in all it took me several days of part time work to git er done. I also sealed the edges with tape for flexible duct work. It is a silver/metalized tape for HVAC. One role goes a LOOOONG way. It is not the metal foil tape. The interior of my garage used to be a sauna in the summer! Now it is MUCH cooler than outside and closer to the low 70's the house is set at. This is worth the cost and effort - without a doubt! ... show more
