    • Works Very Well to Reduce Heat Transfer through the Garage Door.
I bought this about a month ago, and installed it right away. The install was very easy, though you'll need two people to avoid a lot of hassle. I installed it on a double metal garage door, and it worked very well, the tape was excellent, BUT you must install the tape per the instructions, the tape is a pressure sensitive double sided tape, and we used a small paint roller to apply the pressure to the tape and it worked perfectly. The insulation material is very light, and will not add any significant weight to the door, it looks very good when all done , in fact, it looks like it's factory installed. The tape works VERY well, so take your time when you're doing the actual install of the insulation, because if you need to pull it off to realign it, it will pull off the foil or white plastic where the tape stuck to it. The amount of product provided is exactly right to complete the project both in the tape and the insulation product with a little extra on the roll of tape to fix a few mistakes. The garage door on my house in the afternoon, with the sun directly on the door was roughly 125 degrees on the outside surface, the transfer of heat into the garage was in the area of about 115 to 120 degrees before the insulation was installed. I installed the insulation with the foil side facing out, and after installation the transfer temp. was about 80 to 85 degrees at the same time of day with direct sun on the entire door, the heat reduction was 40 to 45 degrees. I was hoping for a little more, but for about $100 that's not bad for a couple of hours of work. My garage door has windows in one of the upper panels, and I installed very dark window tint on the inside of the windows, help with the heat transfer caused by the windows, and that worked very well, and the appearance looks the windows have nothing on them and the garage is dark inside, so if you have an HOA, as I do, they have no idea of the blacking out of the windows, and you don't see the foil or the white side once the job is done....Hope this helps, my place that I installed this on is in Orange county California, and the summer sun is HOT ... show more

We purchased this to help keep our garage a little warmer in the winter, we live in southeast WA state and it gets pretty cold for stretches and when it gets super cold our garage freezer/fridge stops being able to keep the freezer side frozen. Got it yesterday and installed last night so I can't speak to its effectiveness just yet except for it helped maintain its temperature overnight, 32 outside 47 or so inside temp, however that's about where it was prior to installing it so we'll see when it gets colder if it can maintain, will update later. Installation was tedious but not hard, cleaned everything with alcohol, taped, then started insulation. The part that is very confusing, and the reason for the current 4 stars, is no where, on my set at least, does it say clearly what side faces what direction, in fact one set of instructions it said make sure the "sticker" faces in and appeared the white side was in, well nowhere on any roll was a sticker. The pictures showed the rolls being laid as if you just unrolled it against the door which in my case would mean silver in and the smaller second instructions I received the silver side was clearly in. At any rate I was fine with the silver side as we are trying to keep heat in during winter and I'm we're not really concerned about summer as our door is open a lot and we only get morning sun hitting it. Overall I liked the product, would recommend it, and to do an entire 2 car garage for the price was worth it even if it only helps slightly. The tape so far is working just fine, it came with the squeegee which was nice, and at the very least it makes the inside of our door look cleaner. If it helps maintain a decent temp all winter I may update this to 5 stars. I posted a pic of the finished result, did not have a before pic but it was a basic garage door. ... show more
