These are a brilliant invention (forgive the pun). They look good on a wall with or without the lights switched on. You don't get colors with these hexagons, rather shades of white, from golden ember glows to bright whites. You can set them up from your iPhone with steady light, or waves of flickering whites, changing shades or intensity that wash gently across your pattern. They take a bit of setting up. Nanoleaf recommends setting them up temporarily first, such as on a table. It's tricky to measure the dimensions to fit the wall where you want them: hexagons have their own dimensions, rather than squares which easily conform to width and height, so check and double check! But once you take the trouble to get it right, and set them up correctly with the connectors provided, it goes well when you apply them to your wall with the self-stickies on the back. I particularly like that I can abandon the iPhone and use a touch controller which they provide for you to place where you wish. You can select different lighting patterns and brightness from this control. I think the basic set doesn't quite offer enough hexagons to make a satisfying pattern; they provide extender sets of three hexagons, and I bought two extensions to go with mine, giving me six extra to achieve the 'look' I wanted. Glad I did, but I wish they weren't so expensive. The cost can seem prohibitive, but remember this is art work that can stay with you for the rest of your life and, in theory, you can even change the pattern after a few years, or when you move home. (They adhere firmly, so you may have to patch up the surface beneath them if you move them.) To sum up, these are not for flashy 'disco-like' color changers, more for those who like subtle changes in whites that wash across your pattern. Or let them hold steady with a warm glow. They'll certainly be a focus of conversation and a comfort on dark winter nights. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I’ve only had them for a few days, but I love them! I love to do the setting that cycles through the different themes and each is unique and mesmerizing! I was looking at cheaper hexagons but those seem to be more appropriate for a game room or teen’s room. These are classy and look good in my bedroom above my desk! The only struggle I had was connecting them to my WiFi. These have to be connected to a 2.4 ghz and not 5 ghz. I have Xfinity gateway modem and Wi-Fi and it sends the signal for both Wi-Fi’s together. Most of my other 2.4 products connected just fine. For the Elements, I had to go into my router’s settings and turn off 5 ghz. Then it connected just fine. I rarely write reviews on Amazon but I love these so much, I had to share! My attached video has one of the more “wild” scenes. Most are very subtle and relaxing! ... show more

I bought this and the 3-pack expansion for my wife's office. Where I am RGB, she is more subdued and her office is rich with Earth/wood tones. It fit her office like a glove and she ABSOLUTELY loved them! However... I could never get them to pair with the app or anything. No matter what I tried (factory resetting them, resetting my phone, and everything in between) I failed each time to pair them with the app. Because of this, I couldn't use the app effectively and use the scheduler as I wanted to change the scenes depending on the time of day (as my wife works from home). So that was frustrating. I would give them 3 stars if it weren't for how beautiful they truly are. Thank God for the controller that you can use and just manually make the changes. I mean overall, it works out this way as my wife is not great on using apps like this and would most likely just leave it in one scene fucntion any way. c'est la vie -k ... show more

    • Installation nightmare: Adhesives fail and screw mount is painfully difficult

There are two ways to hang these, and both are plagued with serious problems. You can use the adhesives which are straight forward, but they are prone to failure (as you can see from the other reviews) and these hexagons can do some damage when they fall. Worst of all it appears that you can't buy more adhesive packs if one fails or if you decide to move or rearrange the panels later unlike some of the other models they sell. You can also screw mount these, individually, with so little room for error that they have you use an adhesive patch to place them and then mark the corresponding hole with a pencil. Again, this means that if you want to change the shape or move them to another room you are in for a world of hurt. All of this could have been avoided if they made it so that the hexagons linked together (the linking electrical components come apart very easily and are not made to hold weight) or if they sold a backing mount which you could hang properly using any number of proven options. Save yourself a huge headache and get a different wall light. There are tons of great options that can be moved and won't cause headaches with installation. ... show more

The panels are pretty good. The wooden pattern is fine but does look plasticky at night. When I removed them, 4 of the 5 stretching strips tore, which forced me to remove the anchor points directly from the wall. The adhesive is so aggressive that the paint came with the anchors. Took less than 10 minutes to install once a design was chosen. Adhesive seems strong and durable upon installation. App is glitchy as previous reviews have stated but it is tolerable in light of the panels’ high quality. Overall great lights, and good value for money considering I got it on sale for $199.
