  • You get what you pay for
Pattern Name: 2.5"
Bought this based on the positive reviews. It's certainly inexpensive. But, based on the price, it shouldn't be surprising that the screw threads are coarse, and not precise - it takes effort to turn the screw that tightens the jaws, even with no load. The handle feels as if it will bend if I try to really tighten the jaws. Which I would do, if I didn't want a piece to move when it's clamped. The clamping system is made out of thin stamped metal, the silicone covers for the clamp mechanism and jaws don't fit the parts they are supposed to cover, and they are really thin. If none of this is important to you, then this is a good deal. ... show more

  • Good for that random annual vice project.
Pattern Name: 2.5"
The media could not be loaded. If you're like me and find you need a vice about once a year and you don't want to spend 70 or 80 bucks for a vice not made by slave labor, this might be your best bet. It should be noted that this vice came with a bunch of sharp edges that would have damaged any metal object I would have used in the vice. If you are also like me and abhor returning cheap defective items on Amazon and waiting the however many days to be refunded. So rather than return it, I ordered a carbon steel metal file ($12 on Amazon, 2 days ship time) to take those jagged pieces of metal off each edge of the vice face. So 20 minutes later I have a reasonably smooth vice face that will probably work just fine for my once-a-year projects. This vice head will rotate freely unless you turn the little handle at the base. There doesn't seem to be a consistent way to lock the rotation down so you just have to play with it until it works. I found that it is easier to lock the rotation handle when the whole thing is upside down. If you are in need of a vice more than 3 times a year or if you value having nice things, definitely spend some more money and get something a little better. Probably anything in the world would be better out of the box than this vice. But it works for me and I kind of like the idea that it's not actually ready to use out of the box. I also like having to Jimmy things and think about the problem and then fix it with more cheap tools. Tis the American way. ... show more

  • Fantastic and durable!
Pattern Name: 3.0" black
I love that this little workhorse came with the little rubber boots to protect your work and tools, and also wholly protects your work area. It's smooth and satisfying to use because you can put just the right amount of tension on whatever you want it to grip. Never realized how useful it would be! Also, it's so convenient to have the built-in anvil. This particular design including an anvil is not common with other brands. It perfectly held my mandrel while I hammered my ring. It will see many more handmade jewelry uses in my future and undoubtedly for a long time to come. ... show more

  • Perfect
Pattern Name: 3.0"
Let's face it, you're here because this is the cheapest table vice that looks sturdy enough to do the job. Mine is solid. Attached to my table and was able to hammer away at some wood with no issues. For the price to be this low expect to do some work. Had to loosen the bolt for 360 action. The track is factory fresh, rough corners and uneven, so take a few minutes with a small file to smooth it out. Don't forget metal on metal so oil it up. When it comes down to it, I would rather spend 10 minutes getting to know my tool than paying extra money. Full stars. Will update if it breaks. ... show more

  • Compact clamp-on vise, a secure grip.
Pattern Name: 2.5"
Was a bit wary tbh, but after implementing it today to repair/replace a drawer-face back mount. I successfully drilled six holes, and re drilled two with a slightly larger gauged drill bit, without the slightest of wobble thanks to the rubber vise guards. Did have to use a half inch thick piece of wood to use with table I was utilizing for the clamp end, but that’s a non-issue. Quite a well engineered portable vise. ... show more

  • Excellent for light duty work!
Pattern Name: 2.5"
We left our ancient heavy bolt-on vise on the built-in workbench in our 80 year old home, and missed it. We're retired now and in a brand new house, so only have small projects now. This vise was easy to clamp on to our workbench; the rotation is a useful feature; and it is sturdy enough for to allow us to bend lighter metal; clamp glued pieces until they dry; and be a third hand when needed. The price is reasonable. This vise is perfect for light duty or hobby work. ... show more

  • Depth is a concern for some users
Pattern Name: 2.5"
This is a great LITTLE vice. The jaws open wide but there is little depth. Also it will not clamp onto a 2x4 or a rail that is over 3" or so, keep that in mind and scout a location for this thing first. For small parts I think its great.

  • Versatility is great!
Pattern Name: 2.5"
I had been using a Panavise for many years. I finally decided to purchase a studier, stronger vise. The MYTEC vise meets all my needs perfectly. I am left handed and the ability to swivel and lock the vise in new positions is wonderful. It is extremely well built and operates smoothly and easily. I keep the soft jaws on all the time and they can be used for holding just about any item hard or soft. I have super glued the pads to the areas that hold the vise to my work bench. I can move the vise to my work area and back to it's storage location in less than one minute. A GREAT PRODUCT! ... show more
