  • Great Pack
Size: Large / X-Large Color: Black
I am a big fan of Mystery Ranch packs. I own two of them. When looking for a bugout bag, the Scree got my attention. Now that I have had it for more than a year it has proven worthy. Mystery Ranch packs are made of very durable material that is not only tough, but highly water resistant. The harness is well padded, adjustable and comfortable. The zippers demand a little extra tug. The trade off for the tug is that they are tough and rugged and highly water resistant. Both of my Mystery Ranch packs feature the unique three zipper main compartment which I learned to love. The top 2 zips access the main compartment from the top. Unzip the 3rd zipper and the entire main compartment is laid open. The top hood compartment is perfect for flashlights, battery chargers, and the like. Stuffed full, thoughtful compression straps squeeze the load down to a very manageable size. External water bottle pockets handle my 32 oz Camelbak just fine. What I love about the Scree is it doesn't draw attention. It just looks like an ordinary black back pack, yet it can carry a lot of weight and ride comfortably. I highly recommend it and would buy it again. ... show more

  • Great size for an over nighter
This pack is great. There is definitely one or two things I wish were different, but it’s a fantastic pack. First off weight disappears with this on, it does a great job of getting it onto your hips and off your shoulders. It’s very light and comfortable. Definitely on the larger side for an average day pack. I use this primarily for hiking or one or two day camping trips. I pack pretty lightly and normally use a hammock. With a minimalist set up and attaching items to the exterior of the pack. Pros : lightweight Great water resistance Excellent weight distribution Tri zipper is very useful with a stuffed pack Easy to attach additional items to exterior Cons: There isn’t a solid place to attach a bladder The packs material is thin, very durable for its weight, but still thin Tough to organize inside with only 2 large pockets Straps on this pack are long, definitely gonna need some ranger bands if you choose it ... show more

  • Best pack for rucking out there
I'm 71 and have taken up rucking to build muscle mass, core strength, and balance as I head into the proverbial "golden years." I've tried a good number of packs for this and have finally found as close to a perfect pack for rucking as it gets. It's strong and extremely adjustable to get my 30-45 lb load exactly where I want it and balanced between my shoulders and hips. I use standard barbell-type weights, a couple of foam blocks at the bottom to raise the center of gravity a bit, and tuck in a sweatshirt to hold things in place which makes for a neat package. Putting it on was quite a challenge at first, but the straps are easy to adjust and its now a breeze to slip on. I use the bag for shopping as well and am happy with the easy-entry design and large pockets on the side. Haven't had it long enough to see if it will stand up to my heavy use. My standard there is Maxpedition, so... we'll see. ... show more

  • Versatility in all environments
Size: Large / X-Large Color: Black
Versatility in all environments. Great piece of kit. Not the choice for low signature environments.

  • Great backpack
Backpack is great. Size fits everything tou could want, very durable fabric, excellent organization. I used it as a carry-on as well as a hiking pack. Only complaint is that for $219, should have strap keepers everywhere. The tails on the load lifters and the backpack straps flap around quite a bit without them. ... show more

  • Best light-hiking backpack yet
Size: Small/Medium Color: Lizard
Purchased for a hiking trip in Utah, was used for day trips only but could defiantly be used for a two or three day hike. Very light, simple but well thought out design. Zippers operate perfectly, and side water bottle pockets can accommodate small to very large bottles. Actually purchased two of them, one in green the other in orange. Both colors are very nice and accurate as shown in the pics. ... show more
