Because the same picture is used for all options in the website description, the stakes are much wider than expected. The width is well over an inch, quite large for staking 1/2- or 5/8-inch tubing. They will probably work but will not look 'neat,' i.e., will not appear correctly sized for the job. As with any galvanized steel in contact with dirt, they will corrode, rust, and fail eventually.     • Work great. Strong, but not for heavy pounding
Size: 12 INCH- 25 PCS
I needed extra-long and strong garden stakes to pin a heavy garden hose to some pretty hard, dry Texas dirt. These are strong, and the rounded end is perfect for a thick hose. At 12-inches, these were longer than needed, and thus hard to push in all the way. Because of their rounded ends, I knew that pounding on them with a mallet would deform them, so I lopped off two inches from each prong with a metal cutter, making the cut at a slant, just like these come, to go in easier. Perfect. These are strong, but be realistic; if you plan to pound them all the way down in really hard soil, or rocky soil, with a hammer or mallet, you're going to deform them. In that case, you'd be better off getting squared off ends and tapping each side alternately, very carefully. Or perhaps soak the soil first and let it seep down. Wear gloves to push. If they are too long, using a husky metal cutter to shorten. For soft garden soil, the extra length is perfect for holding things down. ... show more

I have several metal lawn ornaments, such as a large metal bird, frog, rooster and so on. Once the wind catches them, they fall over. So, I decided to get these long stakes to help anchor them down and sure enough it worked! These are so worth the money! They are large, at 12 inches long and thick and sturdy!
