This is a well built set for children. The maracas and triangle have a pleasant sound. However, the xylophone is off-key which spoils any tune that we tried to play. Hopefully, all of the sets are not like this. The flute-like instrument is just a high pitched 'tooter' for a repeated same sound note. If your child just wants to bang on the drum, strike the bars and shake the maracas, he/she would be happy with this set. ... show more

Overall I give this 3 stars. The package arrived in the original packaging with the label stuck right in the center of the front of the box and the sticker does not remove easy. In my opinion, giving this as a gift would not be an option unless it was close family who wouldn’t mind a damaged box. The items were dirty and scuffed and could possibly have been used prior. The tambourine is paper and extremely thin. It feels like after a few uses with any children will be ripped. It also has some scuff marks on it, which makes me think it was previously used. The xylophone isn’t in tune, which is a shame. Especially if you are ordering this to teach notes and introduce music. Despite all of these negatives, both of my kids (3 &1.5) love this set, which is why I gave it 3 stars. They will still use the xylophone even though it’s not accurate. But very disappointing it’s not accurate since I wanted it for my 3 year old to start learning some simple songs. ... show more

I intend to use this item as a holiday gift for my 3 year old great-granddaughter. I prefer gifting items that will promote a child's development. There's no reason why they can't be fun at the same time. This musical set consists of a xylophone, tambourine, triangle, maracas, wooden scraper and whistle. Thse are gender neutral toys made of sustainable wood with attached metal parts. The triangle, of course, is all metal. I took each item out of the box to examine whether there were cracks or splinters but found them all to be smooth and well made. The painted trim is non-toxic. If you are worried that the set will be too "noisy", don't be. The sounds on all the items are muted and shouldn't get on anyone's nerves. My only serious complaint is that the web pages state " perfect preschool toys for toddlers 1-3." The box, however, clearly states the musical set is intended for ages 3 and up. There are pieces too small for the littlest ones, so please beware. ... show more

So many kids instrument sets are basically falling apart from the start, but this one feels much more solid and seems like it can stand up to toddler life. The design is super cute and the colors are great. The box is also good quality and isn’t covered in misspelled words like so many other products on this site lately, making this set very giftable. My only complaint is that the wand you’re supposed to use on the triangle is about half the thickness of the triangle metal and it feels a little dangerous for small kids to be running around with. It’s very strong and thin, which gives me a little anxiety about her getting hurt if she falls with it. But we’ll probably just use a different mallet and call it a day. ... show more

The color paint on the instruments is really pretty and it's different than normally colored very bright toys- the pastels are a nice change.
