  • Look, for the price, it really isn't that bad.
Size: Black
I didn't have much expectations when I ordered this and I don't think you should either. If you are expecting a current handheld experience with a modern device you will be highly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, again, it's not a bad product just a realistic one for the pricepoint it was intended. In fact, I'll even dare to say it's a value for it's current 20ish range. It has a bunch of throwback games, not all that are great or worthwhile. There are a few repeats and some games I'm convinced never even existed but there are some mario games and others that alone will probably be worth the asking price. I do prefer a d-pad over a joystick for retro gaming but that's kind of a preference I guess. At this price, I was able to purchase two for our children and it did fantastic keeping them entertained on our road trip. ... show more

  • It's Ok, but set your expectations pretty low
Size: Red & Blue
Retro gaming has gotten popular. I have a couple of emulator devices, but I decided to give this one a try; something cheep I can let me youngest play with and not worry about him damaging. It works well enough. It's got a bunch of ROMs pre-loaded; I don't think there's any way to put your own on there. The menu is a bit tricky to navigate at first, but you figure out which menu button does what. The buttons are Ok, but the joystick is a little weak. Since it just emulates NES games, they should have stuck with a D-pad - this is like the nub from the PSP and it just doesn't feel great. The screen is attrocious - it's pretty washed out. But, at this price, that's about what you can expect. You can always hook it up to a TV and use it that way, but at that point you'd probably have better options for emulation. As a cheap, easy to use out of the box NES device, it certainly does the job. Just don't expect stellar controls or visuals. ... show more

  • A Trip Back To My Childhood
Size: Red & Blue
This device is about what you’d expect. It’s a small handheld game player, designed to look similar to a Switch, that plays a built-in “500-in-1” NES ROM. Note that while it promises 500 games, there are some repeats in the list, and sometimes multiple versions of the same game. But even so, there are more than enough games here to scratch that nostalgia itch. Some of the games are Romhacks, and those are particularly fun. Seeing gaming’s most notorious plumber dressed as a ninja or fighting dinosaurs is a great way to inject something new into a classic game. It even includes a couple of popular fighting games that were never officially released on the NES. The video display is good, though some of the games look a little darker than they should. The sound is decent, too. The button layout could be better. It has four buttons to use in-game, even though the NES only had two. The other two buttons function as auto-fire buttons. The only problem is that those two buttons aren’t where I would have put them, and I keep accidentally pressing the autofires instead of the normal buttons. I don’t believe there’s a way to remap the buttons, but I could be mistaken. I’m not a huge fan of the joystick. It feels less precise than the NES’s original d-pad. It’s perfectly serviceable for most games, but pulling off precise sequences, such as a certain 30-lives code, can be difficult. Being able to hook it up to a TV is a nice feature, but on modern TVs, it stretches the image out. The extra controller for 2-player games is a nice touch. The device feels durable. The rechargeable battery is removeable, so it can probably be replaced if it goes bad. Overall, I think it’s a solid toy to give to a kid, or for yourself if you want a nostalgia fix. Serious retrogamers will probably want a more complicated device, but this one’s good for NES fans who want something simple. ... show more

  • An inexpensive "nostalgia trip" that delivers just the bare bones necessary for gaming.
Size: Black
• There are 500 Nintendo games included, although there are a few duplicates, and a few strange 'game conversions,’ like Island Story modified with Mario being inserted as the main character in “Super Mario 19” (a game which never existed). There are some good games, some bad games, and some ugly ones. • You select your games through a menu that shows a handful at a time, in alphabetical order – if the game you want is deep in the list, be prepared to spend some time flipping through the menu pages. The menu background music loop is continuous and annoying, with no way to silence or change it. No headphones are supported (at least, not 3.5mm ones). The speaker is fairly good for the simple Nintendo sound. • The buttons are reasonably good. The main 'rocker' joystick is okay (and compact), but I feel it would have been better as a D-pad like on the included extra gamepad. Unfortunately, you can’t use the second gamepad for single-player use. • The ergonomics in general are mediocre, but functional. It’s not particularly comfortable to hold, but you can easily reach the controls. • The screen is good for the size. Bright, and with good color. There’s no way to adjust the brightness, however. • The Reset button is the only way out of games, and always takes you to the language choice between Chinese and English. In other words, you always have to pick a language after every game. • There is no documentation for any of the included games, so you'd have better played them in the past. • While it does claim to support “TV-Out”, this is a composite RCA video out designed for old-school CRT standard def TVs. Anything modern will not cut it. • For the price, this is a great ‘grab and go’ nostalgia trip, but I don’t see this being the ‘go-to’ gaming device for anyone. Once you’ve gotten your fill of playing these old games, you’ll probably put this in drawer and forget about it. ... show more

  • Odd games but it keeps my kids entertained for a long time
Size: Black
There indeed is a lot of games but a lot of them are Chinese I believe? And some of them are very odd like the same game but with different characters. Either way the kids like these "retro" games so all is good!

  • Not a bad deal for the price
Size: Black
This is a pretty neat little device. Tons of games to choose from and a lot of stuff I've never even heard of before. The extra controller and ability to hook it into a larger screen is a great feature. Hundreds of games translates to hours and hours of entertainment. Not only for myself but my kids too. ... show more
