  • Simply amazing
I was on the hunt for a good boom arm for a good price for a good while, and this is it. I have a Rhode podmic which is a pretty hefty microphone which killed the springs in my last boom Arm. I have been using this arm for i don't even know how long and it is still to this day as firm and sturdy as the day I bought it. This is a great buy. ... show more

  • extra piece needed for some Microphones
Had to buy this mic stand extension piece so I could plug in the XLR cable. Otherwise the bend is too close. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B092M77MLF?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_S49Z6CAEECZT5VXKDC4G

  • Works well
I really like this mic stand it works perfectly on my desk , however some the small plastic parts that are supposed to hold down the mic cord don’t snap into place still a 4/5 for sure works great.

  • An In-Depth and Honest Review
I use this mount for a Blue Snowball which weighs 1.01 lbs. It sees heavy use as I am talking to my friends on Discord and for class. Tolerance Issues The cable clamps on the arm do not click in some places for me. Seems to only want to solidly click in the middle of the cable raceway. I suggest using some Velcro straps at the ends of the raceways. Another place where tolerances do not seem to be the best is the linkage where the arm itself slots into the female end of the mount itself. It was noticeable at first however did not think it would be an issue. It has become quite annoying now as fine minor adjustments are nearly impossible. Unintended movement of the arm at the base of the microphone mount is 1". I have made sure everything is seated properly and both ends are clean and free of debris. Build Quality Overall the build quality is good. Starting from the bottom, I did not use the clamp as I specifically wanted a grommet. The base itself is well seated and was easy to install. The mount itself while I appreciate the ability to quickly remove it if need be I would have rather preferred the arm and base to be connected. The connecting rods feel very sturdy. They're made out of aluminum and have a nice matte black finish on them. The circular constructs that connect the rods are however made of plastic. They feel cheap and have a different finish from the rods that is subtle, but noticeable at a quick glance. The microphone mounting hardware is made out of steel and feels very nice to the touch. Screws in nicely and the microphone feels secure. The cable tensioners do not secure the cable nicely and I have to readjust often. Have not seen any issues with that, however over time that may become an issue. Overall It's a good arm if you're looking for something easy to put together and has a decent build. If you could figure out a way to eliminate the tolerance issues it could easily be 5 stars. The amazon listing says it can support 4.4 Lbs. However do not be fooled it can only support 2.2 Lbs. ... show more

  • Solid and stable design overall, cheap materials
Pros: - Solid, sleek design concept - Excellent range of motion - More than reasonably sturdy - Easy to assemble and adjust Cons: - Cheap plastic material - Cable management clips are a joke - Far too expensive for what you get I bought this boom arm to replace my old one that never really functioned properly to begin with, and I chose this particular brand because of the thick, solid anchoring point (the previous boom arm I had used the standard thin metal insert with no structural support, so it constantly slouched over and was super flimsy). After mounting it and adjusting the tensioners, it functions exactly as one would expect and I'm overall pleased with it. However, as I was adjusting the tensioners and testing the range of motions, I noticed that the middle joint at the center of the arm could very easily bend farther back than it's supposed to if the tensioner is loosened more than halfway. This would create a separation at the seam and felt like it was going to come apart at any moment. Additionally, the cable management clips are a joke. They barely remain seated on its own, and if there's any tension coming from the cable pushing up from under the clip, the clip will come undone easily. One of the clips simply lost the ability to latch down entirely out of the box, and I'm unable to use it now. At the end of the day, I'm not returning it because it excels at all the features I want in a boom arm, even though it falls a little short in other areas. At the price that it's at right now, I couldn't recommend it to anyone else, but if it's on sale for under $40, I'd say pick it up. I don't think it's bad by any means, just too expensive for what you get. ... show more

  • Slick design, meh build.
Its a slick looking mic stand and has no problem holding up my fifine k678 mic. Its also one of the cheapest that has the option of though hole mounting instead of clamping. That allows a lot more flexibility in mounting if you have a desk you are willing to drill into. The build quality is a little meh overall. It looks better than its built. Lots of plastic. The cable clips on mine don't close super well and the metal tubes aren't pinned into the plastic joints so you can accidently pull them apart a bit while adjusting if you're not careful. If you're hoping this is a pro stand feel at this price, you're paying for a look more than a feel. However this is the cheapest tube style stand by a good margin. The other big gotcha that I think is causing people to say it won't hold a mic is that the spring tension only works one way. It's not obvious which way that is since the stand is symmetrical. The cords need to run down the back side, not the inside of the arm bend. I set it up the other way first and it was flopping over like a few other reviewers complained about. Once I turned it around and adjusted the tension on the bottom of the arm it was fine. The tensioner isn't exactly obvious either, but there is a big sticker pointing it out when you get it. For that $47 that I paid for it I'm pretty okay with the compromises. Functionally I'm not sure its worth double or more than the cheapo external spring booms. ... show more
