i worked on it and some of it is real slowly

  • Excellent quality in the design, the parts, and the manual
I like Mould King sets because they make a good product. As expected, the quality of the standard size parts is excellent. The build is well designed. The manual has very good illustrations and clear instructions. The build is divided into three phases, and the parts are in numbered bags. 6 AAA batteries are required, not included. I recommend rechargeable batteries if you want to run it much; they are a good investment in the long run. The build is complex, best for older kids and adults. Prior building experience is helpful. ... show more

  • Different kind of set for older builders
This is a very different kind of kit than I usually do. That said, there’s a lot here to like and just a few frustrations that may or may not apply to you. More about this set. The good. - Piece quality. Generally very good. I’ve recently done official Lego and import generic Technic styles sets. You can really tell the good versus not good Technic pieces and it makes a huge difference as bad pieces can make a set a real finger buster. These are good pieces. - Design. Pretty interesting. This is my first engine build and much of the design is your standard moving piston mechanic but the design goes deeper adding cam wheels and intakes to really flesh out the design goes deeper - instructions. Good definition so you can tell which pieces go where. The less good. - Near the end of the build a lot of the extra details just don't stay together. The side hoses are constantly wanting to push off the top rail details. Ugh. - Back to the instructions. There is a lot going on in each step so you really have to pay attention which can be a lot different than the almost spoon feeding style of Lego instructions. There are also some steps that take some real spatial thinking to make sure you’re getting right. - A few spots of unsupported, a least temporarily, pieces. Not a huge or insurmountable obstacle but it does up the skill level from beginner to intermediate. - Parts from bag 1 are used in bag section 2 which was a bit puzzling at first. -2 mis-formed pieces though neither impacted the build and I was able to carry on with the full model. In summary, a different and generally fun kit for preteens and up. If the final detail held in place better this would have been 5 stars. ... show more

  • So cool!
Mould King does it again! This is such a fun build for any automotive enthusiast. Mould Kings quality is right up there with LEGO. The building instructions are easy to understand and follow. The power function included with this set completes the model and brings it to life. I highly reccomend!

  • Not built yet. Lots of expectations.
This very large kit is analogous to a lego technic kit. Complex with lots of pieces. There is missing parts request info right on the box. BUT, lets hope I don't need to use it. A lot of kit for the money.

  • Really awesome with only a few missed opportunities
I really like this set. It's super neat and does a good job of modeling a Bugatti W16 engine. There things that I felt were missed opportunities and lets this set down a little. At $60 it's on the pricier end for the nearly 1000 piece count, so I'm less forgiving of issues. Mould king is absolutely top tier among the Lego alternative brands, and this set was no exception. All the pieces had perfect fitment, none were missing and the power connector for the motor attaches securely. The instructions were good, although they lacked an overall piece listing. Parts came in bags separated by section, and can be opened in order. The "transparent" cylinder head is actually translucent with a matte finish. You can sort of see the cylinders moving underneath, but not clearly. The impellers of the 4 turbochargers are not linked into the motion of the engine - they are stationary decorations which I feel is a missed opportunity. The rear transaxle outputs are similarly stationary decorations. As a result, the main noticeable motion when the electric motor is running is just the external fan piece on the back. The battery box takes 6 AAA batteries and have easily lost screws that need to be removed to load the batteries. It's good quality, but it could have been better as a lithium rechargeable unit. The instructions even refer to it as a lithium battery box multiple times! Alas, it's just an alkaline unit. Using the old style battery box is another point that lets the set down because Mould King's rechargeable and RC electronic components are actually *better* than Lego's. Finally, a number of standard technic piece types are split into 2-3 parts that snap together. They function just about equivalently to the single pieces they replace but pad the piece count with no benefit to the user. All that said, It looks awesome and I like it, it's just a bit frustrating seeing how it could have been better. ... show more

  • A Great Working Model
The media could not be loaded. Thanks for this Great Working Model Engine! A giftable box holds three numbered stages, a good clear instruction book and the motor and battery box. It does require six AAA Batteries; they are not provided. Rechargeables work fine at 1.2 to 1.3v. Some spares, no missing pieces. The model itself was fairly straight forward it does get a little more delicate towards the end. The motor assembly at the end of the build was slightly tricky and required some divergence from instructions to do with ease. So perhaps for slightly older kids to adults for this one. Overall, a great working set. Thanks again. ... show more
