Features

  • Best-in-class audio quality Equipped with the same ESS Sabre32 Ultra DAC Technology found in audio interfaces costing thousands, the M6 delivers an astonishing 120 dB Dynamic Range on its line outputs. ESS converters also drive the headphone outputs, rivaling dedicated headphone amplifiers costing hundreds. Ultra-clean preamp circuits produce a measured -129 dBu EIN on the mic inputs. Capture and monitor your audio with pristine clarity.
  • Best-in-class speed The M6 provides best-in-class speed for monitoring live inputs (mic, guitar or keyboard) through your computer, thanks to MOTU's expertly engineered USB drivers, which deliver class-leading, ultra-low 2.5 ms Round Trip Latency (32 sample buffer at 96 kHz).
  • Best-in-class metering When recording and mixing, nothing is more critical than achieving optimum levels. The M6 is the only audio interface in its class with a full color 160x120 pixel LCD featuring clear, detailed level meters for all inputs and outputs. Enjoy professional-level volume control and feedback to get your sound just right.
  • Loopback for live streaming and podcasting The M6 driver provides convenient loopback channels to your host computer, so you can easily route computer output back to the computer, where you can mix it with up to four mics (and/or guitars) from the M6 in your host software for live streaming or podcasting. Streaming and podcasting has never been easier and better-sounding!
  • Unique A/B Monitor Switch The M6 is the only audio interface in its class to offer A/B monitor switching. Connect two pairs of monitors and quickly check your mixes on each pair with the push of a button.
  • Professional grade headphone outputs Driven by ESS Sabre32 DAC Technology, both headphone outputs monitor the signal on Monitor Outs 1-2 and feature independent volume control. The second headphone output includes a 3-4 switch that allows it to independently monitor Line Outs 3-4, which can have a completely separate mix from the computer.
  • Music production software, 100+ virtual instruments and 6 GB of loops Performer Lite provides everything you need to record, edit, mix, process and master your own music tracks quickly and easily. Plug in your mic, guitar and keyboard and start tracking with over 100 instruments, dozens of effects plug-ins, guitar FX processing, 6 GB of loops and sounds, and much more. Live Lite 11 is a lightweight version of Ableton Live 11 with all of Lives essential workflows, instruments and effects.
  • Stand-alone operation With the included multi-blade international DC power adapter connected, you can power the M6 when the computer is turned off (or completely disconnected from the M6). This allows you to monitor any live inputs you may have (mics, guitars, keyboards, etc.) without a host computer or iOS device needed.
  • Solid and secure construction Rugged metal construction throughout includes a solid yet lightweight extruded aluminum alloy shell, steel faceplates, precision-knurled knobs, and a universally compatible Kensington security slot.
  • A tradition of engineering excellence Decades of award-winning product engineering for hit songs, mega tours, primetime shows and blockbuster movies goes into every MOTU audio interface.

  • Very simple, but very powerful - great for a first interface!
My old interface took a dump after a move, and I wanted an upgrade anyway. This unit has 4 preamp inputs, a MIDI in/out, and a dead simple set of controls that work and sound great! I also love that there are 2 headphone outs, as my partner and I like to record together. The software is super easy to work with, and it offers some good output options in Windows. I felt limited by my original interface (from a different brand) with 2 preamp inputs and minimal controls. This does it all and has space to grow. I'd recommend it, especially as a first interface. ... show more

  • Perfect step-up interface
My previous interface was the most popular 4-channel consumer interface in the world...you already know its name and its color. The MOTU M6 was an excellent next step in audio quality and professional results in a portable format for on-location gigs. I am very happy with the preamps, the connectivity, and the controls. Five out of five, ten out of ten. ... show more

  • great sound
I really love the way this audio interface sounds. It's a huge upgrade from my old tascam us 2x2. I mainly bought it because of the headphone amps on it. Probably the best in this price range. It runs all my iems and headphones with ease. Good, clean audio. My only issue with this interface are the knobs. Particularly, the gain knobs and the headphone knobs. There is some "wiggle room" that is really annoying. Makes dialing in gain and volume slightly more cumbersome. It would a full five stars if it weren't for this small issue. ... show more

  • Sounds great. Convenient controls. Actual LEDs for input levels. Quality build.
So far, so good. Just received it today. So far I’m completely impressed with sound quality. I am not an audiophile but am a former professional recording artist and have worked in a lot of high end studios in Los Angeles. I just like to have fun with music now but I’m usually too picky for my own good. This unit is very clear and detailed. Everything just comes alive. The layout with controls on the front and inputs on the back is perfect for me. Love the LEDs. My old Scarlett 18i8 stopped working a few days ago which prompted the purchase. This sounds way better. ... show more

  • MOTU is the GOAT
This thing is robust, easy to use, no bs, everything I needed for my podcast. It has everything I need and it gives me no fuss. Worth the purchase! I bought an M4 earlier and needed something a little more and wished I didn't get rid of it. Oh well. Good stuff!

  • Easy to use, audio quality very similar to $2000 interfaces, just works!
I've had prior MOTU Audio interfaces in the UltraLite line and they sound excellent but were more complex to setup. The M6 is far easier to use and operate and has retained the same level of sound quality. I use my MOTU M6 primarily as an audio interface for video work. I have used several other interfaces from PreSonus, Audient EVO 8, Apollo, and RME. As far as audio quality I could not tell the difference between M6, UA Apollo Twin DUO, RME Fireface UFX III running thru Genelec 8340A Monitors. If I want to do a video/audio project quick and easy, I go with my MOTU workstation setup. Results are excellent! ... show more

  • It stopped working
I tried to make it work, I reset it and unfortunately it doesn't work.

  • Amazing value for the money
I am a VO artist who needed an interface that 1) had at least 3 mic pres 2) had 2 headphone jacks 3) had line level inputs that bypass the preamp circuits (for using with external pres) and 4) had Phantom Power (48v) switches for each channel. The MOTU had all of this and more for a very low price (in my opinion). It also had the ability to select each channel to monitor with a switch, the ability to have 2 sets of monitors output with different mixes, the ability to monitor the headphone mixes separately, and even had precise level meters for input and output. This is unheard of for a $400 interface. The preamps are clean (cleaner IMO than the UA Volt 476p which I demo'd before this) and the drivers have been rock solid. (I'm on Windows PC). The only other option in my price range was Audient id44 but that was about $300 more and it didn't have additional line level inputs but only 2 bypass circuits on the preamp circuits. No thanks, I am happy with the MOTU M6 and think it is underrated. ... show more
