Overall it’s a good pitcher that’s of great quality. I found the narrow opening compared to the base a little hard to get a good whirlpool going. Even after a few month it’s still its a pain. Then add the price it’s one of those meh purchases.

I lover Motta. These are great quality, thick and beautiful and are excellent for freepour latte art. (Though if you have used others before you may need to learn how to draw with these as the milkpouring pattern is a bit different). They also make a slightly silkier microfoam texture thanks to the way milk is stretched in them. This one though is quite large and I recommend it for frothing for multiple servings; not for just a cortado or cappuccino. (good for a coffee shop where the workflow is to pour from a larger pitcher into individual smaller pitchers for better latte art). In site of the Motta quality, the white coloring on this is a bit broken and inaccurate around the rim where the color meets the stainless. That's the only reason for ducking a star. These are excellent and expensive pitchers that are packed well; I would expect a better color quality finish. My other two Motta pitchers are smaller (for a single latte and for cappucino/cortado/flat-white/macchiato) they are stainless so the look is classic and less dramatic, but no worries about color finish. I am extremely impressed with this pitcher. I don't regret paying the extra bucks for this one at all. It is extremely heavy duty steel. I thought my last one was impressively thick and this one makes that one look thin and cheap. The spout is great, and I love the form of the base that makes it easy to gauge how much milk you are putting in. This is also extremely helpful for figuring out how much froth you have made and when it's time to start mixing it back in if making a latte. It is extremely easy to create the vortex. I just tilt the pitcher at a slight angle with the frothing wand at the edge and bam...vortex. The 25 oz version is easy to clean, and I have very large hands. I originally wasn't crazy about the hard angled handle and how it visually contrasts the smooth lines of the pitcher body, but it is perfect for holding it steady while trying to pour latte art. My latte art is still sad, but it is unquestionably my fault and not the pitchers. I would buy definitely buy this one again. ... show more

After trying it out for a short while (very short while): # The Bad - The shape of the pitcher is different, requires different way of frothing from what I am used to (so in the video, I frothed the milk using another pitcher instead). - The 17 oz pitcher is too small to properly froth sufficient milk for a standard 8 oz cup - The pitcher is stainless steel, pretty thick. Due to this and directly under aircon, I find if I am frothing using another pitcher, I need to put hot water into the Motta pitcher first to warm it up before pouring in any frothed milk, otherwise the shock will kill the froth - The pitcher feels bulkier, and a lot harder to handle due to the different design of the handle - Not for beginners # The Good - You get a higher quality Latte Art compared to other pitchers (of the same spout design) - Relatively easy to do larger/fatter designs - The thick steel retains the frothed milk for a longer duration (so long as it is not on a chiller or directly under the aircon) - Easier to cut the latte art with milk (& sharper cut), with an nicer finishing # Conclusion - For RM 4xx , I would consider this as a reasonable and low priced considering this is one of the top of the accessories out there used in world level competitions and contests - High snob appeal. Using this pitcher will ensure you look like a Master/Professional Barista # Tips - When tapping (knocking the pitcher on the table), it is highly advised not to knock the pitcher while holding the handle. Do knock the pitcher while holding the top of the pitcher instead. In Amazon reviews, there is a number of cases of broken handle complains. ... show more

There's a crevice where the handle meets the main body that easily accumulates dust, debris, moisture, etc. Very overpriced for what it is, but decent enough build quality and excellent aesthetics.

We recently got an espresso machine for our photo studio and it's been fun playing barista. The pandemic has kept us out of Starbucks over over a year now. While my latte art still has a ways to go, this has become my most used milk pitcher because its small size is perfect for steaming milk for one latte and it keeps me from wasting milk. I love the look of it, the black matte finish matches perfectly with our other coffee accessories, and the handle is very comfortable and lines up perfectly with the spout so it's well balanced.
