  • Love this phone!!!
Color: Mineral Gray Size: 128GB
My review of the Motorola edge 2022 goes like this,...I had a Motorola 2021 stylus it fell to the ground and was shattered it it was still sort of functional but would go haywire all the time so I finally decided after a ton of research to get this Motorola 2022 edge. This phone which works flawlessly with Metro by T-Mobile it's my favorite phone I've ever had, I could never afford the $1,000 to $1,500 phones and I wanted a really good phone that did just about everything, was reasonably fast and took decent pictures. After seeing how a lot of people didn't like this phone for photos or video I was skeptical about the camera aspect of this phone, but buying this brand new for $149 directly from Amazon was too good to pass up. The day it arrived I hooked this phone up with Metro by T-Mobile and 1st it immediately updated the camera then several security updates then it went to automatically update Android 12 to Android 13 and then another camera update and one more security update wow that was fantastic and the difference in the camera stability and video quality was phenomenal!!!!!!!! The OIS on this camera makes the video float so to speak it's not shaky whatsoever, just make sure the OIS is on and also OIS does not functional when the phone is in battery saver mode. The video quality is very very smooth flagship quality - almost pixel quality!! The stereo speakers are very loud with nice clean punchy bass, nice mid-range and nice clear top end, miles above my previous Motorola stylus speakers. The Vivid OLED screen is extremely bright and I could see it directly in the bright sun including on the day of the eclipse!...and if you're outside on an extremely sunny day just put the phone and adaptive brightness mode and your screen will become even more extra bright out in the sun. This Edge 2022 phone is very fast at everything it does and super super smooth I've had no trouble with the 5G, and it's is so much faster with downloading and uploading and processing and gaming!! The sound quality is great I can hear calls so loud on this phone I have to turn the volume down compared to my old Motorola stylus.... this phone is truly in a flagship type of lane! I love it that's all I can say, and for $149 for an original phone that was listed for $699 thank you thank you thank you Amazon I love you love you love you!!! I'm so well pleased with this phone 4.5 out of 5 stars! EXCELLENT 👍❤️ ... show more

  • Generally very good
Color: Stardust White Size: 512GB
I've bought Motorolas for a long time now. I've ventured out to Samsung and LG on occasion, but I've always come back. Motorola makes great solid, reliable midrange phones with about as authentic of an Android experience you can get. I was reluctant after the company was acquired by Lenovo, but I can attest they're still good phones. I bought this to replace my Moto X4 not because the Moto X4 was broken or didn't work, but because I wanted to take advantage of wireless android auto in my Jeep and the newest OS for the X4 was incompatible. I had gotten my money's worth out of that phone already anyways. One of my favorite changes is that the fingerprint reader is built into the power button.. this is MILES better than any in-screen fingerprint reader I've used. It's almost instantaneous. Press the power button like normal and it likely already processed your fingerprint and unlocked the phone. Battery life, as with all of my Motorolas, seems to be a step above the other brands. Other than a Pixel, Motorola offers as close to an authentic Android experience as you'll find. They're not trying to force you into some stupid ecosystem you don't want. Bloatware is minimal. Again, this is why I keep coming back to Motorola. Screen quality is very good. I used to think anything greater than 1080p on a little phone is overkill, but I admit the text does look noticeably more crisp. I have two disappointments, which are fairly minor: 1) The phone has stereo speakers built-in, but as others have noted, the second speaker is just the earpiece, and therefore it's much quieter than the main speaker, giving it a lopsided soundstage. I guess it's better than nothing, but not by much. Speaker quality is still decent, but nowhere near iPhone quality. I've yet to hear an Android that competes, though. 2) Camera software seems laggy/low FPS. I'm guessing it has to do with the multiple cameras and the phone processing them together to create one image, but it feels like the camera "viewfinder" runs at <30fps. The images that come out are still good. Again, not iPhone quality, but perfectly good for a midrange-priced Android phone. I was just disappointed compared to my Moto X4 because that thing was always smooth as butter and image quality was 90% of what this fancy three-camera setup achieves. I still think these multi-camera setups are a bit of a gimmick. Or maybe Android/Motorola just aren't utilizing them optimally. All of my other complaints are with Android itself, so they'd be present on any brand. Having owned both iPhones and Androids, I like Android for their flexibility, but with each new version of Android I feel drawn back to the 'everything just works like it should' quality that iOS has. Apple feels like it was designed by a small group of people who understood the mission well; Android sometimes feels like it was designed by a thousand of different people who never talked to each other. As these mobile OSs get more complex and feature packed, I'm starting to think I'd rather have stability than flexibility/customisation. For my next phone, I may go back to iPhone... Again, though, this is not specific to this phone--just Android itself. So I guess this rant wasn't really necessary.. Good phone if you're looking for an Android! Not the best-of-the-best, but a great balance of capability and price. Probably the sweet-spot of the market. ... show more

  • Great phone (fast, NFC, long battery life) but no ones priority
Color: Eclipse Black Size: 256GB
I was looking for an affordable, unlocked phone with at least 6MB RAM and NFC. A surprising number of Moto phones do not have NFC, which for me is a showstopper. Tap pay is essential. This model has it all with an almost unbelievable price. However when I began searching a wallet case realized there was a plethora of selections for the Edge+ (a different size) and almost nothing for the Edge. Did the case manufacturers even realize Edge+ was a different size? Also the Edge+ received its Android 14 update very early this year. Although Moto promises Android version updates for this model, so far they have not delivered. It feels like the Edge is the red headed step-child to the Edge+, as far as being an ongoing priority after purchase. ... show more
