A single 50 pound kayak was enough to flatten the front bar and scratch the roof of my Honda crv. You would be better off rigging up a homemade roof rack out of 2x4's and foam pool noodles.

Alright, so I bought this for my 2006 Honda CRV, and I initially tried to install the cross bars I thought the front bar was too long. So I took a saw to it to cut a portion of it off. Later on I brought a buddy over to take a look at the cross bars and as it turns out, I forgot to install the washers, which made a HUGE difference in the sturdiness of the bars. As it turns out, the bars were the correct length. So we modified it slightly to allow for the shorter bar. It is absolutely rock solid, and I would recommend this to a friend. ... show more

    • Wrong length bolts & weak construction
I bought this rack for my Honda CRV to haul ladders & longer light equipment on top of my car. I do renovation, handyman & property maintenance services & this should help unclutter the back end of my car. First off, the 12 bolts provided for the bar supports were too long to tighten down. I had to go out & buy shorter bolts. Second, the rubber tracks do not stay in easily. Be careful not to catch or rub anything on the rubber as will pull out of the track with ease. Third, the bars do not seem to be very heavy duty & I can imagine they will fail at some point to strapping the load to them if not just putting equipment on them & off of them a few times.
