  • Great - took some careful install and planning
This provides what you need, along with some wood that you supply to install a basic end vice for cabinetry type wood work. I'm no expert but with some careful planning, and an existing wood work bench built earlier, I can easily place work pieces in the vice with wood jaws soft enough not to mark most wood easily, and quickly be working on the next step, whatever it may be. (Planing, sawing, etc.) With some bench dogs it will also hold larger flat panels or boards without clamps obstructing the path for tools to be used. This depends on the bench having similar bench dog holes or sockets to accept corresponding dogs. ... show more

  • Heavy duty vise. Good value
As with any inexpensive 10.3” vise there are trade offs. The rim of my bench is very thick, almost 3 inches. I had a smaller vise and the jaw just didn’t open far enough. This vise is heavy almost 10 pounds. It has some play in the guides so it’s not smooth as silk. The acme threads are a little rough but it is workable. The casting for the handle holder is pinned crooked on the vise’s screw. The hole for the handle is 1.2” not 1.25. I don’t have a lathe, so a 1” oak dowel with two 2” hardwood balls makes a functional handle. I’ve been using the vise for a few projects now and it functions well. No, it’s not a quick release but I just crank it a little more than the $300 vise. For the price and no shipping costs this vise functions very well for me. It sure beats the small vise I had and the hand clamps before that. It’s size makes it more versatile for me. I kind of liked having to make this vise “work” for my woodworking bench. I proud of how it turned out. The craftsmanship of my woodworking projects is much better with this big heavy vise attached to my bench. ... show more

  • Very nice bench clamp
Came as described, easy install. Works great!! What more can I say

  • Once installed, it works better than any other clamp I've ever used.
Once installed, it works better than any other clamp I've ever used. However, it's difficult to install. If you're off by a millimeter cutting a hole in the bench, it'll take quite some time to adjust it. Once you get the install done, it'll work great.

  • Great vise for the pice, but handle hole is too small.
Feels solid especially for the price. But unfortunately hole handle diameter is not as described, it's only 7/8", so only 3/4" diameter handle can be put in there. Maximum jaw opening is just before 8". This vise has a decent paint job and good quality metal parts.

  • Not strong enough
There isn’t much I like here. I do not like giving bad reviews but this vise isn’t very good. To be fair I do have a weird circumstance for the install but there is a couple of major flaws in design and execution here. The jaw will flex back at the top when tightened. It’s hard to clamp with the top of the jaws which you will do a lot. You have to add your own wooden jaws and handle. I mounted this and added the jaws and there isn’t enough steel to keep the jaws from tilting outward when tightening it. It also racks a lot of you need to only use one side. Additionally one of the tightening screws in the back of the guide bars broke off when using the vise. I took the jaw off and replaced it with a 1/4” steel plate and that solved my issue. Still have the broken screw though. Also there are some mounting holes in the bottom that are just about impossible to get a decent screw in to hold it because they are too close to the casting. A lot of work arounds but I finally got something usable. I would’ve saved a lot of time just replacing the outer jaw with the plate right away. There are no tweaks good enough to fix the flexing issue. ... show more

  • Do things add up?
Like another review, I found things just a bit off from what was advertised but identical to my situation. The box arrived several days late after sitting untouched at one location for several days, and the box looks like it was in a fight with the delivery vehicle - the box is crushed and has a big hole in the top and side and several other holes where the product has been slammed from side-to-side, and the hardware bag is torn apart with a missing nut. Thanks to the other reviewer so I could copy this: I ordered the Mophorn 9 inch vise. It arrived, but without any indication of Mophorn as the manufacturer. Instead, it had a large yellow sticker with "Vevor" on the inside of the box. All the dimensions per the site page match EXCEPT the handle hole diameter. Site page says the hole diameter is 3 cm (1.2 inches), which will accommodate a 1-1/8 inch diameter handle. Instead, the vise I received has a handle hole diameter of under an inch and the largest handle that will fit is 7/8 inch. Everything else looks sturdy. So the question remains, did I get what I ordered??? ... show more
