  • Didn't Work For My GPU
I'm sure this product would have worked for extending my desktop, but (as I discovered) my GPU doesn't reliably support the added monitor. Returning it, but no complaints on the product itself. Check your hardware capabilities if you're trying something new.

  • Out of the box functional but not with two 4K monitors unless setting at 30FPS
I am using a new Dell Tower PC with Windows 10. EVERY DRIVER AND THE SYSTEM BIOS WAS UPDATED. I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 installed by Dell. It has a single DisplayPort, a single HDMI port, and a single DVI port. I have two identical LG 27" 4K MONITORS that have been tested to 3840 X 2160 individually using this same PC. I attached the MONOPRICE 2 Port DisplayPort 1.2 to DisplayPort Multi-Stream Transport (MST) Hub (Product Number 21972) using two different sets of identical DisplayPort 1.4 cables. I switched the cables, I switched the monitors, I used the monitors individually to confirm that they were still able to achieve 3840 X 2160. I just double checked to make sure my system BIOS, and drivers were up to date. Using this product my second monitor was never able to achieve a resolution greater than 2560 X 1600. I gave up on the idea of this product giving me two functional 4K Monitors. I now use a single DisplayPort Cable and a single HDMI Cable in the NVIDIA graphics card. I sent an email to the manufacturer for assistance. I will see if they contact me with a solution or are willing to accept the return of the product. Updated 1/2/2021. I have decreased my refresh rate to 30 fps and now I have two functional 4K monitors using the Display Port MST. I did not see any communication from Monoprice. I was ready to return the product and thought that I would give it one last try. I am using this computer for business so I would much rather have the two monitors with identical resolution than asymmetrical resolution and a higher refresh rate. (By the way the DisplayPort cable attached to this Hub is 16" long. I could not find this information out anywhere in the description.) ... show more

  • Only a video splitter cannot use for extended displays
Can only be used to display same screen on disk monitors. I sent the unit back as I needed a Unit that would extend the desktop, in the end I upgraded my PC's to disk display models Charter than buying display extension units!

  • No complaints
I needed to run two monitors in extended (MST) mode (both DP connections) from one DP output on my work computer without having to download any drivers, as this is not allowed by the company, installation is very straightforward, plug everything in and it works. I ordered the DP 1.2 version because of the basic application and price point needed, the newer DP 1.4 might be better suited depending on your needs. The product seems to be very well constructed and has a thick 12" long tail to hook up to the source. Overall very happy with the product. ... show more

  • Great product!
Works well! I needed it for my home work station and unfortunately it wasn’t a fit but it wasn’t the products fault because I found out our home work stations only allow for 2 screens not 3. It worked on my gaming set up great but I already had one for that set up so I ended up returning.

  • Exactly what I needed
Single display port split into 2 monitors. Works perfectly on laptop with 2 large curved monitors.

  • Screens go black
Product worked great and I was happy to have 3 screens for work. After using about 6 weeks, I had all 3 screens go black at one time. I was still connected to Internet and my VoIP phone system but couldn’t get anything to show on the screens again. I’d have to turn computer off (losing customer on VoIP phone) and restart everything. Such a pain. I returned my work computer and got a new one and still had the same problem. Black screen problem happened more frequently. Several times a week. Finally unplugged this splitter and went back to 2 screens. No problems since. Very disappointing. ... show more

  • Not Good for a KVM Setup
I like the metal housing of this hub. The rigidity added by the housing will make this very durable. The primary cable is thick and well made. I didn't have any problem with this unit when it was plugged directly between my computer and my monitors. I had an issue installing this with a KVM. The setup was Computer > KVM > Hub > Monitors. When used inline with the KVM, the monitors just didn't work. If I used the KVM by itself, the monitor works fine, and if I use the hub by itself, it is fine. If I use the devices together, there is no signal. Since I know the KVM works and works with Displayport 1.2, the only thing that makes sense to me is that there are just too many connections in my setup and because of that, too much loss. I ordered a powered MST hub, so maybe the amplification will clear up the issue. Aside from that compatibility issue, this device seems to work just fine. ... show more
