Chrome-plated plastic has a lifetime, measured in a few years. The chrome finish will start to wear off and the underlying (white) plastic will begin to show through after a few years of use. At this price point, it's fine to replace them every couple of years. If you want a lifetime finish, go with a solid metal holder instead. ... show more

It does what it claims, it will fit the average holders out there. It almost looks like it is painted the chrome color it is (but it isn't painted). It is super shiny, but for under 2 bucks, your toilet paper will be properly supported, stay on the holder, and that is why you are buying it. I appreciate that Moen offers a cheap solution, I really do. For many, just anything that works, works. I got it as a stand-in for someone until they could hunt down a match for their more uniquely-colored holder. But if looks matter to you, and your holder is not shiny chrome, (it will stand out against real chrome), then get a real metal one. Otherwise, get it and be glad it is not ten bucks or more.
