Modern Masters is a very unique metallic specialty paint. Pricing comparable to most high end premium paints for a specialty metallic paint. It beautifully accents and highlights any properly primed surface with life with it’s settled metallic sparkle. In this project I used the Modern Masters BRASS. In order for this product to look it’s best, a base coat of a somewhat similar paint color in an eggshell finish will do the trick. Since it requires multiple coats in order to achieve a solid and true metallic finish & sheen. If applied on woodwork or high traffic areas 2 coats of added master clear finish is highly recommended for added protection with several options available. A MM extender (ME65116) is a must additive to your metallic paint to keep a wet edge preventing it from streaking, lap marks or drying too fast. Keep in mind, this will also ad a bit more time to your drying and re-coat time but we’ll worth it to achieve a professional finish. Even tho, this is a water based and a low voc’s paint, it still has somewhat of an order in case you’re sensitive. Since it’s a water based product is easy water clean up. The product doesn’t touch up very well due to its metallic properties. So, re-coating is best and specially after it’s been sprayed. If you’re a crafty DIY a little bit of practice with the product is highly recommended mostly due to product being sensitive to temperatures that will affect product workability drastically. I use, like and recommend the metallic Modern Masters because of their range of pre-mixed colors and finishes.     • Great for a pressed tin ceiling!

A few years ago I painted my living room ceiling with Modern Masters satin nickel. This paint is a dream to apply and the color (applied on top of a metal primer) with a brush, is a warm silver. I had a good2/3rds left in the can. Now, I hired a contractor to scrape, prime and paint 2 more ceilings on another floor. There was a lot of prep work and I was eager to see the results. He sprayed an area with some of the left over paint. The color was very different, kind of a soft gold, like champagne. 4 gallons later, it’s very different than the first ceiling. I don’t know if it’s because it was sprayed, the lights or what. I really prefer the first ceiling and am not sure what to do. This was many hours of labor getting all the failing paint down, these ceilings are over 200 years old. ... show more

Bought this to paint my bedroom furniture since I was renovating and don’t want to buy all new things. Took a chance with this paint and WOW was I surprised and impressed. I bough the silver and did both dressers and nightstand. I did not use any primer and out this on the bare wood. No prep whatsoever and it covered beautifully. Used on my coffered ceiling in entryway to add an elegant finish. I applied over standard white ceiling and it took about three coats. Required about 150% more product to get the coverage than stated on the label.

I have all the colors. With One jar I painted this hutch along with a couple accent tables and have 1/4 left. I primed first and painted a base coat of a light beige then painted 2-3 coats of the gold. It has a nice matte shimmer.

I am so impressed with this paint! I painted my metal legs coffee table and it applied so smoothly and dried really fast. I was worried it would have that cheap painted look but it looks super professional! I found it best applies using a sponge. I am very happy with this paint.
