I chose the taupe color curtains because they are not a common color for shower curtains. There is no sheerness to it so it does darken the shower. It's nice that it comes with shower curtain rings to immediately hang the curtain but the rings REALLY do no favors being white and plastic. I suggest buying some nice metal rings to elevate the look. I chose black to match the bathroom accessories that I have. I like that the curtains come in a length of 72"x84" so it could give that elongated dramatic feel. The curtains are water repellent and allow the water to bead off of the curtain. It functions as a shower curtain, but it's not very pretty. The material is stiff and doesn't drape or flow nicely. It reminds me of the old floating air mattresses that smelled weird and felt kind of like canvas, well this shower curtain feels and smells somewhat like that.
