  • Beautiful well made boots.
Size: 9 Color: Black
These boots are beautiful. They are well made and other than something that I will explain, soft and comfy on the foot. I first ordered a size 8 which is sometimes my true size since I wear anything from 7.5 to 8 depending on the shoe manufacturer but since there are only whole sizes in this boot,I ordered the 8. MINNETONKA YOU NEED YO START MAKING THESE WITH HALF SIZE OPTIONS! The 8 was perfect ..at least the left boot was. It fit like a glove and the shift or long fringe part hugged my legs beautifully..no slippage. When I put the right boot on however ,there was a very large hard lump on the inside seam near my last 2 toes. This lump was painful and obviously a defect. I had to return the boots due to this unfortunately! They were snug and I am sure that had I been able to keep them that they would have stretched out a bit more as people have been saying. I then ordered a size 9 to see how THEY would fit and they were just as beautiful and well made but waaay too big on my foot and leg so they were returned. I have reordered them again..in an 8 and am hoping for a pair without a defect. My advise with these boots is that if you are between sizes, order the larger size as they are very narrow! Also if you have a wider foot you will need to order up as well. This is why I ordered an 8 instead of a 7 first time. I would say if you are a true whole size, and have a narrow foot and calf, stay true to your size..if you have a medium to wide foot and a wider calf..not chicken legs like me..order a size up definitely. Hope this helps!! ... show more

  • Tighter than the ones I purchased before
Size: 10 Color: Black
Love these boots! However, this time they were all around tighter than the multiple pairs I have previously purchased.

  • Not sure yet...and an update...
First, I LOVE boots! These I saw on a classmate (in the tan and loved them ) and I too, searched for these boots in my area and couldn't find the 5 layer anywhere but tried on the 3 layer at DSW- and knew that they didn't come in half sizes, so I ordered a 10-even after reading the reviews about the narrowness of the boot. Size 10 is a half size bigger and they are tight, tight. A bigger size won't solve the fit issues. Overall, the boots arrived FAST! as I am a prime member and Amazon always delivers :) - I pulled them out and tried them on and they ARE SNUG. I know that suede will stretch out and that is what has me worried. The way the boots are constructed no matter what size your feet are, they are going to overlap the bottom of the boot- the sole is the narrowest part of this shoe and you'll feel your feet slipping over the sole- so when they do stretch out- your going to see the overlap of your feet onto the sole- the other reviewers remark about the back of the ankle rubbing- that's true as well. I am average sized as far as my calves go-so no problem zipping them up or fitting around the calves - that's a plus because as the suede stretches- they won't tend to fall down. However, as I own AT LEAST ten pairs of boots for the fall and winter - so I do consider myself a bit knowledgeable about fit and wear- I store my boots and bring them back out in season - so I don't mind "paying for what I get"- that is the main reason I will more than likely return these boots. For the amount of money that they cost- the sole should be constructed better and I am particular - if I don't like the boot or am uncomfortable to the point of distraction wearing them - I will gift them to others- I have been known to literally take the shoes off of my feet and give them to a friend! But, back to my main "gripe" if you will- I buy a lot of boots and spend anywhere's from $25. to $150. on them- so I expect not to have to make do with a $100. pair of boots, and a brand such as Minnetonka should have put more thought/effort into the construction of the soles. They are extremely aesthetically pleasing- but I know the idiosyncrasies will stop me from wearing them- so- I will try to wear them around the house- for tomorrow- It's Sunday- but in the end- I know that I will return them. That makes me very sad. One reviewer said due to her Native heritage she would keep them and loved them- as my mother is full Ojibwe- these are not even close to moccasins in construction. UPDATED: after wearing the boots around the house- they are definitely subpar as far as construction goes for the price- the left is way off compared to the right and the box says size 10, but you couldn't convince me they were a size 10- My husband just asked me "what are you going to wear them until you decide to keep them" I sadly have to say "NO" - as I was taking them off the zipper fringe broke right off- normally a non issue- BUT- I JUST GOT THEM! Minnetonka missed it on this one. The search continues. ... show more

  • Clearing Up the Sizing Issue?
Size: 9 Color: Dusty Brown
My wife's review: I was a little concerned after reading the reviews on these boots, particularly the wide variation in shoe size. I normally wear a size 8 1/2 to 9 1/2, depending on style, so I split the difference and ordered size 9. Previous experience with Minnetonka is that all their moccasins run small and eventually stretch to fit your foot. That's what quality moccasins are supposed to do. When I tried them on the first time they were a little tight in the toe but fit remarkably well in the rest of the foot. I was dismayed to find I could not zip the boot all the way up over my jeans. This is not an uncommon problem with high boots of any kind, since the average woman doesn't, as another review stated, have stick-thin legs. Good leather stretches, though, so I was able to work the zipper up over a couple of days. I've worn them now for about 10 days, and they fit like a glove. My recommendation: When it says "true to size," order your normal size, or a half size smaller if you cannot be exact. Slightly too small is better than slightly too large. If you have average legs, be prepared to work with the zipper on this knee-high boot, or just buy the shorter 3 layer fringe model. I've had Minnetonka moccasins in several styles over the years, and they are all very well made. I've wanted this tall fringed moccasin for a long time. I am VERY happy. ... show more
