  • Replaced single wall Switch
We have 2 minka fans that came with remotes but just a single switch on the wall. Replacing the single wall switch with this was easy and it worked exactly as intended. We can still use the remotes too.

  • Best wall mounted fan & light controller
I need to replace a wall mounted fan and light controller. This product is the best.

  • Replacement for original wall switch
Bought this to replace the original wall control which failed. It took quite a while for me to determine that this was the correct wall control to buy for my old-ish (2016) Minka Volterra ceiling fan, because God forbid Minka should provide that information. Kudos to the seller for helping me figure this out. Installation was a bit complicated because I live in an old building, and there were both old and new wires behind the wall plate. Once the spaghetti situation was figured out, it worked fine. BUT, there was a problem: it kept mysteriously turning itself off. I finally realized that this was because I had a different Minka fan in another room, and since the controls use the same frequency, using any of the fan controls would affect both fans. Once again...Minka's instructions & online information provides no information whatsoever on how to deal with this. After hours of searching I found a helpful YouTube video, and I will describe the solution here: you need to change the frequency on one of the fans. To do this, you do this: 1) Turn off the wall control. 2) Pop out the wall control's front plate (a small, thin knife helps to pry an edge loose). 3) Find the row of 8 dip switches. They are numbered 1-8, and should all be in the OFF position. 4) Flick one or two of them to the ON position. Doesn't matter which ones. 5) Replace the front plate and turn on the control. 6) Press and hold the center button, the one you use to turn the fan blades off. The fan's light will flash a few times. Once that's done, release the button. Voila, you have now reprogrammed your fan, and can control it separately. I trust this helps explain why I gave this control 3 stars. There is another reason: the buttons are ridiculously small and fiddly, and the controls are really not that intuitive or efficient. Really wish it it could be improved. ... show more

  • Convenient
Fits great on the wall, no more misplacing the actual hand remote..

  • Hard to turn lights on in the dark
This switch is easy to install and works fine. My issue is that the the buttons to turn the light on are too small. You can't just walk into a dark room and flip a switch on, you have to find the tiny little button to press. I use the light far more often than the fan, so I wish they had made the button for the light larger. Also, why are there two buttons for the light when they both seem to do the exact same thing? If you want to increase/decrease the brightness, either button (up or down) will just send the brightness along it's usual cycle in the same direction. They could have just made it one larger button. The little switch at the bottom that just turns it on and off would be nice, but it's even harder to find, and you have to use your fingernail to push it on/off. I'll keep using it because it does eliminate the issue we were having where someone would turn the light off with the remote, and then someone else would try to use the switch and think that the light wasn't working. And then we had to search for the remote to get the light back on... So this switch is worth it if you've already made the mistake of buying one of their fans. ... show more

  • works good and silent.
The only problem as you can see in the picture is the light buttons, they are tiny.

  • Solves the wiring problem
With this remote, you can control your Minka fan without the extra wire in the wall. You will also need the companion receiver unit installed in the fan. My room has only two wires (plus ground) from the switch to the fan. By installing this, and installing the radio receiver from Minka, you can control both the fan and the light. Otherwise it would not be able to control both. It's easy to install – no more difficult than installing a light switch. Minka also offers a wireless remote with the same functions. ... show more
