I usually determine the difficulty of a book nook depending on how many lights and wires there are. There are three lights so it's not that bad. They also provide precision tweezers and glue with a thin tip which was very useful for other projects. This was my second booknook. It is a high quality product that I thoroughly enjoyed assembling but there are a few downsides. Some parts did not fit perfectly and made it difficult to hold together but a little bit of glue fix that problem. The lights were very easy to place and probably the best thing that helped me assemble the product was then tipped tweezers because some pieces were very small. The finished product was beautiful. Instructions are in color which helps find the pieces easier and very easy to follow along. An upside is that they do give you backup pieces which is greatly appreciated since the smaller pieces are fragile. I would suggest getting a miniature hammer instead of forcing pieces together. It took me about 6 hours to assemble. ... show more

The top left corner was cut of the table runner. Also the smell was very strong when I opened the plastic shrink wrap. However, this kit goes together beautifully. It has the best directions in color and the pieces are organized in a way that just makes sense. The smell goes away after an hour or so. I will probably order another one to give as a gift ... show more

This was a fun build. There are a lot of neat little details. In this kit, these tend to be architectural with a gazebo, tree house, etc. Of course, Dorothy, a scarecrow, a lion, and a tin man appear. These images do not appear to be modeled after the ones in the movie and may be closer to the descriptions in the book. The wiring is good as are the instructions. There is a clever door for accessing the battery compartment (see picture). I did find it necessary to change the order of some assembly steps. For example, the instructions call for gluing (i.e. permanently mounting) the support posts for the gazebo early on in the instructions. These posts will need to fit into notches in the base, near the end of the build. If you glue them early, it would be very difficult to make sure they would line up with the notches later on. This is a super cute, fun to build kit. All the parts you need are included and are well made. Its easy to put together and the scene inside is compelling when done. My wife and kids loved it and it sits on our shelf right now in the main library where we pass regularly.

This is a great project that one can do at one’s leisure. There are a lot of small pieces, but it looks great once fully assembled. All that is needed is included in the box including the glue. The instructions are clear.

I haven't put it together yet but I gave it 5 stars because of the way it came packaged and how beautiful it looks. I am very excited to put it together and will update my rating when I do but just based on how it looks, I can't wait. There are a LOT of very tiny parts so I plan on opening it over a counter top and towel so nothing rolls away. ... show more

I haven't taken apart the whole kit to examine the pieces yet, but it is so clean and organized the way it's presented in the box. The printing on the wooden pieces looks nicer than some other nook sets I've seen. I like that it isn't just one color laser etching, it's got color too. I am so excited to assemble this kit! The media could not be loaded. I think I’ve fallen in love with book nooks. I got this on a whim and had so much fun building it over 3-4 nights. It was the perfect thing for winding down each evening. The kit came with everything necessary to build it: glue, emery boards, LEDs, tweezers, sticker-tape and assembly instructions. The only thing you have to provide is two AAA batteries. The kit also includes a clear plastic front to keep dust out. It’s covered in a thin plastic film on both sides that makes it look like frosted glass until you carefully peel it off. Each “sheet” of parts was clearly labeled, and precisely cut so joints fit together perfectly. I think I only had to sand down maybe 4-5 pieces of the whole lot, and only minimally so. The pieces smell like wood shavings so maybe it’s particle board of some sort? They’re delicate but sturdy. I wouldn’t hesitate to give this as a gift, and I definitely plan on buying additional kits. ... show more
