  • 5.0 out of 5 stars With built-in 620 old classic video games
it offers a wide selection of games that you may have played in your childhood. The plug and play feature is incredibly convenient, saving you the hassle of complicated set up procedures. The console is compact and ergonomic in design, making it easy to store and transport. The buttons are responsive and provide an authentic gaming experience. The graphics quality and sound effects are impressive, considering the console's price point. The setup menu is user-friendly, allowing you to easily navigate through the various games. The console's compatibility with TVs is excellent, and you can play it on any TV with a plugin. However, there are a few minor downsides. The device does not come with an AC adapter, so you either have to purchase one separately or use your USB port to power it. Some of the games may not provide a challenging experience for experienced gamers, although that is a subjective opinion. All in all, the Mini Retro Game Console is an ideal choice for anyone looking to relive the classic gaming era. Its affordable price point and convenient features make it a must-have for any retro gaming enthusiast. ... show more

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars 30 bucks is still too expensive
The controllers are largely unresponsive, the interface seems intentionally frustrating, and I gave up trying to scroll through 1000+ games trying to find one I recognized.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars It's Not the Worst Way to Spend $15
The media could not be loaded. This has lots of old games. Not quite 620 of them. There are several repeats, some in Chinese and many I never heard of. I'm not sure these were all released on console. One feels like a foreign propaganda vehicle. Lots of Contra. Several Contra's seem to start in the same place and some start on levels. What can I say about this small unit? It's designed to look like an OG Nintendo because nostalgia helps us part with our money in search of better times. There is no startup or branding screen on this. It's just straight into a list of games. I also couldn't find a way to back out of a game other than to hit the reset button. Since there is no menu it pretty much instantly loads. For some reason they put a composite video cable with this. Most people will need an adapter to use this. The controllers are really bad. Not very responsive and the games feel sluggish as well. It could be the games themselves as some of these are really old. The graphics are hit or miss. Some games like Spelunker look really good imo while the SpiderMan game looks more like Spooderman. This also requires you plug the 1st controller into the right port, which feels backwards to me. This is probably because it was assembled in China. So, is this a great emulator or throwback? No, not really. I give it 4 stars because at under $15 this really does have a bit of value in my opinion. Most guys will probably buy it and play it less than 5 times and then forget about it. I'd rather spend $15 on something I'm not going to use again than $50 or $100. The games are very old and I feel the roms aren't the worst for the average casual this is marketed to. I didn't come across any games that wouldn't load but with such a huge list I don't have time to try them all. This would be an ok gift for father's day if you have a Gen X father. He'll play it part of the day, relive a little childhood and move on. I feel this is exactly what this unit is designed for. I personally picked this up to run on live stream between matches. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for kiddos
This is a review for: Mini Retro Game Console - Built-in 620 Old Classic Video Games, Plug and Play TV Games Old-School Gaming System Ideal Gifts Choice for Children/Adults (currently priced at $13.99, as of May 12, 2023) Our son (12) is very much into all things retro, especially retro arcade games. We were excited to give this to him for his birthday. It's easy to hook up with the included AV cables (not HDMI) and the unit is small and portable. There are many duplicate games, and searching through them is clunky. We were hoping for games like Super Mario & Tetris, PacMan and QBert, but honestly, we haven't heard of most of them. The ones like Galaga seem to be close to the originals, but others are very generic feeling. The controller is different from an original NES controller, and on some games, the movements are strange, with the directional arrows causing jumps and the buttons causing directional movement. All-in-all, we will have fun with this little system, and it will be good for taking with us when we travel. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars No Super Mario Bros BOO!
Def not HDMI. AV cable only (yellow = video | red & white = audio). Plugs into the unit via micro USB. The included power cable is very short, but the controller cables are decently long. Advertises 620 games, but many are duplicates. Haven't figured out what, if any, the differences are. Some game titles on the screen are in Chinese characters. And some game titles are lost in translation. Overall, most of the main NES games are there, but def not all (no Tetris). Scrolling through the enormous list is easy as you can breeze through 10 at a time by pressing the side button. It quickly becomes clear the duplicates. However, there are still many games to play. And the game play is nearly identical to the originals. However, the graphic quality is a bit reduced. You'd think they would've remastered the games, but they feel like they're being run on an emulator so the quality appears degraded a bit. Overall a fun little entertainment box. ... show more
