I'd like to start this review off by informing everyone looking to purchase this IR Illuminator to light up dark areas for filming by stating the following. THIS IS ONLY FOR IR COMPATABLE CAMERAS AND VIDEO CAMERAS NOT FOR EVERYDAY CAMERAS THAT HAVEN'T BEEN CONVERTED TO IR OR LACK THE NIGHTVISION COMPATABILITY. That being said here are my thoughts on this little light. Pros: -Bright and adjustable illumination -Okay battery life, about 2 hours on high -Can charge while in use from a battery pack or from wall -Very light weight, doesn't make carrying bar top heavy at all CONS -Unknown longevity I bought this IR illuminator to boost the night vision range of my IR CONVERTED CANON ELPH130IS point and shoot camera and night vision camcorder that already has the night vision compatibility. I am part of a local Paranormal Group and I've used this several times on our investigations with fantastic results. Normally the little IR on my camcorder did the job okay but this little light boosts and brightens the surrounding area very well for its size. I've attached a few photos of a little set up that I use for walking around and navigating the environment. Now for the low price I'm very happy with the results! We will defiantly use these in the future, they are very light weight and can be used for about 4 hours on medium and about 2 hours on full brightness for those big areas. I imagine getting a few more of these and a mounting bracket will work fantastic. My only CON is the unknown longevity of the light itself, its run for at least 24hrs total over several investigations while being plugged into a power bank. So far there are NO dead LEDS so that's a plus. In conclusion, this is a great little illuminator to complement other IR devices or just a standalone to fill in other dark areas.     • Very bright
Some things I noticed. I test this just with my smartphone it illuminated a tiny bit. (Probably has an IR filter so don't get much light.) I tried this with two cameras with their own IR lights, and wow is this thing bright. It illuminated a 18ft by 12ft room or so with no problem at at. So folks complaining of it being dim maybe they got a bad unit or maybe using a device that has an IR filter or no direct IR support. I noticed even on a camera that supported IR I had to put it in IR mode before I could see the light well. I haven't used it for long yet but the initial test was great. ... show more

    • Feels a bit flimsy, illuminates interior shots well
I bought this light to supplement an older handycam that is IR compatible. It does. The next try will see if the IR fill will enhance an exterior security camera covering a narrow, short range view. [edit July 2022 - didn't do much for the security camera as a dedicated IR illuminator.] For interior use, it works very well with lower settings than I would have guessed. In fact, I would suggest starting at the lowest setting and increasing gradually. I haven't tried it outside yet. The IR LEDs glow faintly red and may be visible in darkness. I may comment later about battery life after using the light for longer periods. [edit July 2022 - outlasted my availability to test. Easy 45 minutes, probably longer.] The plastic housing, switch, and shoe mount feel fragile. I'm not taking this into combat or the wilds, but I still don't think this is up to rough handling.     • Excellent Lights For The Price
I wasn't expecting much from these lights. Given the price and size, I figured they may help my IR camera see a couple extra feet when paired with the cameras built in IR. Boy was I wrong! These little lights can easily light up a 20x20 foot space with ease. It's recommended you plug them into a portable battery pack when using, because they die pretty quick on their own. I refuse to use the IR flashlights after getting these. Theyre lightweight, very effective and can be powered externally for long recording sessions. Checks all the boxes for me! Remember, these are INFRARED LIGHTS. They only work with INFRARED/FULL SPECTRUM cameras. If you buy them with the expectation they will work with any regular camera, you will be disappointed.     • Play VR in the dark
I bought this for VR so I wouldn’t have to always have lights on. I hated taking off my headset late at night and seeing bright lights surrounding me. Get this little guy and plug it into your PS5 and boom, infrared light will keep you well-lit and the VR will not ask you to change your surroundings. You can see the light when you are wearing the VR in look mode, but to the naked eye, the light is invisible. If you are into VR, this is a must-buy! ... show more

    • Best bang for the buck!
This light was perfect for my needs with my Sony HD camcorder for use with night vision (NightShot). I had a much older infrared light for my old Hi8 digital cameras. This older Sony light was perfect and bright having 8 IR lights, but would not work with a newer Sony camcorder, so I looked into a newer Sony infrared light, and found it to be not even half as bright as the older IR lamp. I guess the old saying goes you pay us more we give you less. But getting back to the review, I found it more than adequate especially for the price it illuminates a large area and yes, it only works with infrared on your camcorder, or other infrared devices. It also can be powered using USB Type-C cable, a big plus for extended use and the price is right. ... show more
