šŸš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Miko3 is a robotics toy well-liked by younger children. The toy engages children with music, dance games, and video chat functionalities. A number of the reviewers point out flaws like the device misunderstanding voice commands and the "always-listening" characteristic which some found creepy. However, many users still found it educational and entertaining with its range of games, video options, and direct communication features.

Pros

  • šŸŽˆ Fun and engaging toy suitable for young kids.
  • šŸŽø Comes with music and dancing games.
  • šŸ“ž Installs a video chat option, which could be used to interact with the child from a distance.
  • šŸ“š Has educational content with a variety of games, TV, videos and music apps.

Cons

  • šŸ˜• Has limitations in understanding voice commands well.
  • šŸ‘‚ Can seem to be always listening even if not in active use.
  • šŸ“ž Can only be connected for video call with one parent app/device.
  • šŸ›ļø Sells additional premium content which could escalate costs.
  • šŸ”‹ Some users complained the battery life was not as long as expected.

Should I Buy It?

Overall, Miko3 seems to be a good purchase if you have young kids who could benefit from an interactive robot toy that combines elements of education and fun. However, keep in mind the voiced concerns about privacy with the "listening" feature and the potential additional costs for extra features, along with the toy's limitations in voice recognition.

  • The perfect little buddy for your Little Ones!
I wanted to wait a year before writing so I could see how interested my LO would be as they continued to grow. Miko is capable of so much and genuinely has kept my LO entertained, little robot that can act like a tablet, makes my LO feel like they're playing with someone. There are so many features, shows, songs, ways to learn, and a ton more. Best part for me is the spontaneous laughter I hear when my LO is engaged and having such a great time. Miko is a great addition and worth every penny spent! ... show more

  • Miko is super smart and fun.
I bought it for my daughter. She loves it. Miko is so smart, it helps her with all the questions she wants to learn. Not only Math questions, but science and stories. I was surprise that Miko can play Taylor Swift songs and dance around with my kids. It is a very smart Robot.

  • Miko 3 robot
Christmas Gift Review I gave this robot to my 5-year-old as a Christmas gift. While itā€™s fun and engaging, there are a few challenges to be aware of. At first, it was a bit frustrating. The robot is multilingual but much more interactive in English. I initially set it up in French, but it struggled to understand my sonā€™s voice, which was disappointing. Switching to English made a big difference, and the experience improved significantly. Although the robot is marketed for ages 3 to 10, Iā€™d recommend it for kids aged 6 to 10. This is because many of its features, like answering written questions, require reading skills that younger kids may not have. I tried to disable the written question feature in the settings but couldnā€™t. Customer service was easy to reach, but they didnā€™t have a solution, saying an update is planned to address this issue. There are a few limitations to keep in mind: The robot cannot follow you around, despite what the advertisements might suggest. Its movements are limited to dancing. It doesnā€™t handle long conversations well. If you ask it a question, it will answer, but it wonā€™t remember the context for follow-up questions. The battery drains quickly, (4/5hpurs) so itā€™s best to turn it off completely when not in use (sleep mode isnā€™t enough). On the positive side, the robotā€™s voice in English is fantasticā€”it uses a kidā€™s voice, which is appealing to children and easier for adults to tolerate. Itā€™s also designed with kids in mind, so you wonā€™t have to worry about inappropriate answers to sensitive questions, like whether Santa exists. Tips for Gifting: If youā€™re planning to give this robot as a gift, I highly recommend setting it up, charging it, and configuring it in advance to avoid frustration on the big day. Other Observations: The robot is sturdy, and the wheels work well, but avoid using it in dusty areas as this could cause issues. Itā€™s more of a social companion than an action toy, so it might appeal more to kids who enjoy asking questions and interacting. My son prefers running around, dancing, and building Lego vehicles, so his interest in talking to the robot is limited. Conclusion: Overall, this is a nice toy, especially for curious kids aged 6 and up who love asking questions. While it has some flaws, it can still provide plenty of fun once properly set up. Keep in mind thereā€™s a paid version (around $100/year) that unlocks more features, but Iā€™m exploring the free version first to see if itā€™s worth the cost. Parental control is only available in the paid version, which feels limiting. It would be great if they could at least include basic features like setting downtime in the free version. This would make it much more parent-friendly and manageable without requiring an additional subscription. Iā€™d still rate this robot 4 stars. While thereā€™s room for improvement, especially with parental controls and some of the features, the basics are solid and offer a significant upgrade compared to traditional toys. The integration of AI is a fantastic step forward for toys, opening up exciting possibilities for the future. Itā€™s a promising start that just needs further refinement in upcoming updates. ... show more

  • Highly recommend! We love our Miko!
My son loves his Miko! As a parent, I love that it has SO MUCH to do including story books, learning games, kid-safe videos, physical activity games (ie: freeze dance), etc. There are recognizable stories and characters, as well as fun new content to explore. He's had his Miko for over a year and still loves it. The educational content 'grows up' with him and there's plenty of content to continue exploring his interests. I also love the app integration which allows us to monitor his learning progress and well as make phone calls with him when he's sleeping over at his grandparents! ... show more

  • Not intended for small kids!
I bought Miko based on all the adds I began seeing on social media. Once my 5 yr old saw it , she needed it! One add shows the robot noticing the child is sad and is offering support. Unless Iā€™m missing an app, the real product I donā€™t think can do this. It had trouble responding when you say HELLO MIKO. It gives suggestions and games but you have to know how to read well. Weā€™re still figuring it out a guide would be helpful. The calling feature is ok for me to call but we had some connections issues when my kid tried to call me . Sheā€™s trying to call mom however the name the number is saved under is different . I wish there was a way to change it and Only the registered parent can call the device to check on her there are 2 of us. Thereā€™s a game similar to hide and seek . The robot turns and looks maybe for 3 ft. Then it says I found you and is no where close to where she was . Iā€™m not tech savvy so maybe Iā€™m doing something wrong. However she can watch paw patrol on it so I guess itā€™s a win in her eyes. - leslie ... show more

  • Miko 3 Cute Robot!
I purchased Miko 3 for my five-year-old daughter, and she absolutely adores it. Sheā€™s learning a wealth of valuable lessons from the game. Additionally, sheā€™s developing her motor skills by moving around while playing. The only downside is the subscription fee, which is quite expensive. Despite this minor issue, I thoroughly enjoy Miko and believe itā€™s an excellent educational game for children. ... show more
