Description

Microban Paint Additive is formulated to deliver long-lasting protection against mold & mildew on interior and exterior painted or stained surfaces, even for the most humid rooms! Simply mix the easy-to-blend formula into your kitchen, laundry room or bathroom paint to prevent mold and mildew stains and deterioration. For use in latex, water, oil and solvent based paints, stains, coatings and adhesives. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Pour entire contents into 1 gallon of paint or other coating. Mix thoroughly, shaking and stirring this product into the coating for 2-3 minutes. Apply coating to the surface as directed by the coating manufacturer. In all cases, mix the coating prior to applying to the surface. To ensure best coverage and results, follow coating manufacturer's instructions for cleaning and preparing the surface. This product is for protecting the applied film and paint, not the substrate

I look at this stuff as an extra step to protect deep layers but the real key is regular cleaning. I have an older home that was built pre-fans (or pre indoor plumbing for that matter) and the cost to rip open rooms to add vents like that would be a lot and cause more damage than it's worth. We add this to paint in areas where moisture will be contact more often with paint (bathrooms, kitchens) as an extra insurance policy. Mixed into 1 gal paint and applied to moldy underside of deck. Did spray with Clorax solution and mild sanding, but paint went on smoothly and two weeks later no mold nappeared.

We're redoing our bathroom which has mold issues. Directions are straight-forward and easy. With this as an option to prevent mold, I don't know why anyone WOULDN'T use it in damp areas. (We really ought to use it in our whole house :/ Only time will tell. The bottle is small and is good for painting small areas. (Like our bathroom). However, I wish said how long it will last. I can't find anything on the bottle or listing. I recommend highly! ... show more

We are taking some time to prep the walls and using up some old paint to freshen a bathroom. With a paper filter and this hopefully it'll work out well. This is only enough for a gallon so do get more just in case. The bathroom in question holds a little too much moisture at times so hopefully this will help till we can afford taking it to the studs for more extensive changes (and a upgraded fan, we upgraded the vent a few years ago when remodeling the bath above). I've had an item change on me in the far past. At purchase this was called "Microban 1.5 oz.
