This is MK8 style nozzle, it is made from a A2 Tool Steel, heat treated to 57-62 RC and plated with TwinClad XT coating. If you are working with abrasive Carbon Fiber, Stainless Steel, wood filled or any other metal filled filaments, this will greatly improve the life of your nozzle. I don’t understand how people are having problems with this nozzle. I will say that 99% of negative reviews on here are due to user error. I installed on stock Ender 3 hotend to print Carbon Fiber PLA. Installed the nozzle correctly, upped the temp in Cura about 5c (print a temp test tower to find your temp) and started printing. Been through at least 4kg of CF/PLA and 8kg+ of PLA and PETG without any clogs or other problems. The nozzle still looks great, stays clean, and prints beautifully. ... show more

  • I wanted it to work so badly
I got it to work, and it work with about a half dozen prints. The fastest I could get the nozzle to work was 20mm/s at 260C using PETG, and the same speed at 240C using PLA. Up until this point I was using the cheap brass ones from china (the kind you can buy in a 30 pack for $10). They printed at 230C and 60mm/s for PETG, but needed to be replaced monthly. I desperately wanted this nozzle to be my forever nozzle. The one that I would put in and never need to replace again. Sadly this is not the case. I gave it 2 stars because it does work, it's just energy and time inefficient. And after 2 saturdays of playing around with this, I'm done. I'm going back to the cheap ones and I'll try to recycle them so I don't feel so bad about the waste. ... show more

  • Works great once you change all your settings
My general PLA/PETG temps wouldn't work well after replacing. Had to turn the heat and the nozzle up by about 10 degrees first week or so to get ok prints. After the first week, I was able to go back to the standard settings. Super strange and not documented.

  • Solid replacement nozzle
I wanted something a little sturdier to print glow in the dark and this has definitely done the job. I did have to adjust my settings a bit, as steel heats a little differently than brass. If you're looking for a nozzle that will last longer, this is a solid choice.

  • Can't get it to work
For some reason I'm really struggling to get decent prints out of it. I know that people say that for steel nozzles you need to increase temp, so I started by printing one of temp tower test prints. Of course I adjusted my z offsets and made sure everything is nice and tight. However, no matter the settings I can't get rid of stringing. PETG seems to really like to stick to the nozzle - which is opposite of what I read online. Putting standard brass nozzle fixes the issue instantly. For the price of this I can have like 20-50 brass nozzles that work just fine, so unless you go through a nozzle per week or less I don't see the point of buying this one. ... show more

  • Only good for slower print speeds
The quality of the nozzle and the quality of print is at the top. I am giving it 3 stars because this nozzle cannot print effectively unless at very slow speeds. I can only run at 20mm/s with it vs the brass nozzle it replaced. I was running 50mm/s on the original nozzle that came with printer. Going over 20mm/s will cause the extruder to eat through the filament because the nozzle cannot heat the plastic fast enough.. I can bump the speed to 25mm/s if I bump the temp to something like 20 degrees above the recommended for the filament but I am uncomfortable with that so I will not be using that as a way around this. Taking the nozzle off and inspecting it shows there are no clogs. Inspection also included that of the Heater block, break and heatsink. Extruder is clean with no visible signs of clogging or wear. ... show more

  • Great Nozzle, if you Understand you WILL need to adjust your temperatures.
Works great on the Monoprice Ultimate 2 So first of... many review complaints state they have to increase the temperture settings to get good print... and that their old temperature settings worked great with cheap brass nozzles so why don't they work with this expensive nozzle... then they give this nozzle a bad rating. It PHYSICS! Brass conducts heat much faster than steel. The temperature sensor is in the heating block, not the tip. So the system doesn't know you changed to steel tip that does not conduct heat as fast as brass. As a result you will need to run tests with your favorite filaments to figure out what the best temperature setting is for the steel nozzle. Once you take the time to figure out the new temperture, it works great and last A LOT longer than the cheap brass nozzles. It's your choice, take the time to figure out settings for a nozzle that will last a long time, or keep buying cheap brass nozzles and throwing them away. ... show more

  • Excellent replacement nozzle
This nozzle replaced a standard brass nozzle on a CR-10S. I put it through the paces with several wood filament prints as well as PLA, ABS and HIPS and have so far not noticed any deterioration. I already ran my nozzle 10 - 20 degrees hotter than most recommended filament temperatures and did not need to make any adjustments to my print temperatures with this nozzle. ... show more
