  • Great, but was difficult to get to connect
My son has been enjoying these very much. After 3 hours of trying to get them to connect to his headset, we finally figured out that the headset has to be 100% charged first. After that they connected without any more issues.

  • Great Controllers on their own!
So I'm gonna start off by saying that my 5 star is on the controllers functionality use. The controller works well with the Quest 2 that I've found, albeit the small issue with the WiFi function that should be fixed in an upcoming update (but was already fixed on the Quest Pro). Pros: * Benefits with off Camera accuracy quite well. Especially makes back-play much easier to deal with. * Despite being a hair heavier, in weight, it is actually lighter to me, possibly because of the ring. * Native rechargeable battery. Though we'll see how well that will be in months time. * These controllers come with a small recharge cradle. Cons: * 8-9 hours from full charge. * Charge Cradle is very small. * Charge cradle has a specific way of putting it on (i.e. doesn't make it easy to just place and go) * When not in use, still can drain a little. * Requires removing the Quest 2 controllers from the Quest 2 to put in the Quest Pro controllers. So why with the amount of stars for the amount of cons? Well, at their heart, it runs great. I don't have to worry about lighting for full functionality of the controllers which when in one room, the overhead light was so bright, you would think some kind of unknown experience is happening in the room if you looked through the window and it could get through most accessories for the headset for light leakage from the top. In another area, the lighting is too little and would require an infrared light to assist. Plus, if being done in the evening, the area was more echo-y so one could unintentionally wake up others in their rooms. So having these controllers eliminate lighting requirements outright. Plus, sometimes I wanted to look at different directions while firing in another (dual ranged weapons) or move around proper with melee based games and sometimes you need back blocks. While it works with the wrist strap, I would prefer having knuckle straps for throwing-based mechanics. There isn't really anything on the market that I've seen with enough confidence to say "Oh, let me try that" for having such grips. Also, it does come with a stylus for writing, but I haven't used anything that required it so not sure if its even gonna be useful for me. Overall, I still find this a great product. The hard part is justifying the cost if wanting to switch from the Quest 2 controllers. Yes, basically if you got a Quest 2 and got these, you're looking at more of an expense towards a custom PC. But I had my stuff long enough and figured I'd treat myself so the cost was fine for me. ... show more

  • Firmware update 0% forever.
This is going to be a short review. For the price of $299(+tax) you expect this to be hell of a great addition to your Quest 3, but it turns out Meta doesn't care about fixing their own problems! There are Multiple issues that I've found: 1 - after I paired them, they kept saying about firmware update (no way to use them until it is compete), but it won't go even to 1% after whole day of work (I left them to update for the whole day!). Turns out it's a very common issue and most of the time you can't fix it with Meta's support page! 2 - a lot of people report terrible movement registration and disconnects on new firmware... I'll try talking to support, but most likely, unless they FIX THIS IN THE NEXT UPDATE - I will refund. ... show more

  • Incredible when they work
These controllers hands down provide some of the best VR tracking you can get for the money, *when they work right*. They have some nasty firmware issues especially when used with a Quest Pro. Protip, if you have a WiFi router in your house and can disable the 160MHz band on your 5GHz channel, you'll solve most of the problems (if they even happen to you). Blame (and yell at) Meta for that screwup. Another great piece of advice, shiny things are your enemy with self tracked headsets and controllers. So super shiny floors, mirrors, etc. Try to avoid that stuff and you'll have a much much better tracking experience. ... show more

  • Premium Feel, Accurate and Pricy
I can't say they're worth 299.99. But they sure are nice. Feel like an Elite Xbox Controller in your hands. I wouldn't hand these to the little kids. I let them use the originals. Some people are griping about the time it takes the headset to recognize the controllers. I would say as of 1/30/2024 with my Meta Quest 3 after a quick pairing and firmware update. Mines are connecting instant. Less than 2 seconds. I can feel the tracking is more precise. It's a shame no developers probably won't take advantage of the tech in the Oculus Touch Pro. Another gripe some people are saying it hard to put them on their charging base. For me this isn't an issue. I can find the charging port pretty quick each time. Now the last gripe I can validate is that I don't think you can have the old and these paired at the same time. I only tried once to do both controllers. ... show more
