    • A Good Cup of Coffee for a Busy Schedule
Rather than make a pot of coffee that continues to cook with time. This is a good choice for one-cup coffee or espresso breaks. Creates a nice layer of crema with each brew. It can be noisy to use in early morning/quiet times. But we have gotten used to it. [Grinder is expected to be noisy, but pump can be as well.] I like the modular components making interim cleaning easy. The add a scoop of ground coffee feature is nice if you want to try your favorite, ground and flavored coffee. But, it leaves a mess inside of the coffee press area. I find the freshly added coffee scattered internally. [It may be due to static.] Milk frothing works well. My wife and i use different coffee strength levels, water volumes, and temperature settings which are easy to select at time of each dispense or saved for all to use. I have used this to heat a cup of water for tea as well. PROS: Meets our expectations with variety in settings and selections. Grinder works well. One scoop feature for decaf and flavored coffee of choice. Idle suspend and wake up functions. [Only powers on for the latter and does its automatic cleaning...heating water for your first cup. Does not brew.] If water reservoir runs low, it will beep alerting you, and will immediately resume brewing once replenished. CONS: I am not sure how long the plastic water container will last, and ordering a replacement does not appear to be an option. I wish there was a way to hard plumb directly to a water line. A bit noisy, but not more than other equivalent types. ... show more

    • Almost good.
The best way to review an expresso machine is by listing pros and cons. Starting with the "Pros": 1) When it makes a coffee or a capuccino or a latte, and when it makes it correctly it does taste like a professional coffee that you would find at Starbucks or Coffee Bean. 2) It has a very sexy LED screen and it is basically a touch screen. 3) The interface /softare of the LED screen is cool with pictures of the types of coffee that you can get. 4) Is relatively silent. 5) The cleaning area (the residues of coffee, etc) has easy access and it is well designed and well made. Now the CONS: 1) The coffee sometimes is just luke warm. Not hot at all. 2) It has metal container for you to put milk and create your latte/capuccino. The problem is if you clean it properly, it starts creating a smell of rotten milk. So I started using a regular cup and it worked just fine and actually better than the metal container. 3) The water container is on the left side, and has a weird access which means is very easy to spill water because to pull it out (or put it in) you have to remove at an angle. 4)Although I filled it up the coffee container with coffee beans, many times the machine told me there was no coffee and I should add more, when the coffee container was actually full. 5) And this is the thing that annoyed me most, after you done making a capuccino, the machine would prompt to add water to milk frothing device to clean it. Which is good. However, if you don't do it at the exactly time that the machine is asking you (which is right after making your drink) there's no way to go back later and clean it. There's no option on the menu can prompt a cleaning. So the only time to clean it is right after you finish making your capuccino/latte.| So you cant really enjoy your drink, because you have to take care of the cleaning first, or else, it will remain dirty. So overall its a great machine when it works, it makes truly amazing coffee, however it is full of glitches and hiccups, and if you are willing to put up with that, you will be fine.     • Forget the expensive brands! I've used them and this does everything and more!
Both my Sister and Brother have the $700 & $1000 machines from the likes of Breville & De'Longhi. Those price points for a cappuccino machine was not an option, and seems ridiculous. I was looking at the Philips 3200 series, but to have a milk frother included, you have to get the $800 model! Ridiculous! Searched the web, and saw this on Amazon. Was very hesitant to buy, because at the time, there were no reviews. I went on YouTube and searched Merol for some videos and reviews, and found a few, but not many. They all had good things to say about it, so I gave it a shot since Amazon is great at returns. What do I have to lose?? This machine is awesome! Blown away with the features and options. Highly, Highly recommend you get one if you're Ok with spending $500 for a good auto cappuccino maker with grinder. Pros: price, features, options, water/temp/strength adjustments, milk frother w/canister, LCD screen, one touch, simple to operate, alerts when to refill water or dump coffee grinds, premium design, and makes a darn good cup of latte! Cons: stainless steel cup tray scratches very easily from coffee cups, glass like front looks nice but needs wiping after every use, need tad bit hotter setting for cappuccino, better instructions on how to set amount of milk/froth and cappuccino for the small & large cup settings. To cap it off, both my Sister and Brother likes my machine and asked, "how much did you pay for this, again?" :) ... show more
