I wanted to replace my Gildan A-shirts, which I liked a lot. I had purchased them at Wal-Mart about six years ago, unfortunately they have replaced them with a brand called George. So here's the journey I went on to replace them; I purchased 7 different Brands. -Gildan (here on Amazon) -Hanes -Fruit of the Loom -George -Van Heusen -Pro 5 -BVD I returned all of them but one - BVD (I am 5'9", 180 lbs, with a muscular build) The Gildan's I purchased on Amazon had lost the quality of the previous ones I had owned, they were paper thin and sized incorrectly (too small). The Hanes, the George, and the Fruit of the Loom were just as disappointing. The Van Heusen had a thicker material than the previous 4, but didn't really have a stretchy feel to the material, they were somewhat loose even right out of the package. In addition they are short, which probably means they are meant to be used as outerwear rather then tucked in as an undershirt (although I do use mine as outerwear, these were too loose). Now the Pro 5 were really the thickest, but they are extremely long in the 2XL, which is what I needed to buy to fit me around my chest and torso, but I had to return them because there are way too long (I guess these would be ideal for someone tall, maybe 6' or taller). The BVD had the best of all of them: they were stretchy, they are the 2nd thickest, and have just about the best length to either tuck or wear as outerwear (and their six pack happens to be the best value as well, $3.50 per shirt). I know this review is gonna help you eliminate the frustration of buying shirt, after shirt, after shirt, to find the best one. ... show more

I've tried a million and one A shirts as I live in FL and black a shirt is my driver when not working . I read from several that these were the thickest of the bunch of your selection on amazon . They are NOWHERE as thick as the Old dickies A shirts but unfortunately for some reason dickies no longer makes them . They were the best of the best .... I digress . Pro 5 Initial impression , not bad , an offset seam but wasnt unraveling or anything . Kinda thick but not very . Fit ? Im 6'1 220. I ordered and XL . Out of the box it was form fitting not at all loose. Just how I like it . SUPER LONG though . BUT I just washed one to see how much it shrunk in the wash . Before washing the bottom of the XL came to the bottom of my zipper on my jeans , pretty long . After I washed it it lost about 4-5" of length to a PERFECT just an inch or so below my belt . Arm holes . Before wash they were pretty high just the the bottom of my armpit . After washing the bottom of the arm hole outside diameter was up in my armpit . Shrunk quite a bit . Felt slightly ....not uncomfortable but not how it should fit HOWEVER , I bet after a few off an ons it will be fine . I ALMOST think an XXL would have fit a bit better BUT I believe if the fabric can take the stretch after they are worn a few times they should be absolutely perfect. So , it all comes down to how tough the fabric is . As I said its just KINDA thick . If these hold up without getting holes in them or falling apart and they hold their color ?? I think they will be a 5 star A-shirt sufficient to replace the OOP dickies id always worn . So stay tuned . I will revisit these a shirts after a month or 2 . So far . Not bad . We'll see how durable they are . ... show more

Material was super soft and stretchy, which I was hoping for. BUT, they were no where NEAR long enough to do the job. had to return the unopened package. Husband was NOT happy w/ the length. Even though they were not a "tall", usually new shirts are longer before they are washed. These were super short right out of the bag. so if you are looking for tall/long, keep looking. If not, these seemed like good shirts. ... show more

    • Color as shown on site was completely different to actual material. (the navy blue)
So i just received this, upon unpacking it, it was almost hard to distinguish between the "navy blue" color this material has and a black color tank top! I'd say i'm really disappointed in this because despite the fact i really was looking to buy a 3-pack undershirt assorted with different colors instead, this line didn't have that but they'd rather pack 3 of SAME colors to sell (which literally didn't make any sense to buy 3 of same color in the first place) but i went ahead and bought the pack cos i loved the design (lengthwise), the material quality & most important reason why i decided to buy it was the color as it appeared on screen. I had searched through this site to see if other lines would possibly have this same color, single or in an assorted pack but none had it, so i had to settle for this one. The color of what was shown on the website is completely different from what the actual material is, the material i received is very DARK navy blue, almost near black, what they have on display on the website under the "navy blue" color tag is something that rather appears as Cobalt blue which was what i was expecting to get when i bought the pack. I've bought quite a couple of different clothes on amazon and the colors were all 100% same as what was shown on the site before i bought them, but this ........was the exception. I am giving this 3 stars for this reason and because there's no assorted pack option :( Hopefully they do this soon (e.g. an assorted 3-pack of blue, heather grey & brown or black would be just perfect..and i'd definitely be the first to grab em). -I am about 44 chest but i decided to go for Medium (a size lower) instead of Large and this does fit perfectly. -Length = Very OK! -Material quality & fit = As Expected! hopefully it stays that way. ... show more
