I got these for my trip to Iceland last week. I'm surprised with how warm I was. They are thin and fit nicely under my shirt and pants. Didn't really know I was wearing them. They stretch but keep their fit. The weather was cold, rainy, pleasant and very windy at various times. I was never uncomfortable in any weather conditions, even in cold, rainy, 30 mile/hr winds. I wore them under my quick-dry cargo pants, which are thin. My cargo pants got soaked by some of the waterfalls and the glacier. But, I still felt warm and dry. On nicer days, the top alone was enough to be warm even without a jacket. Sometimes I had to push the sleeves up. They can be worn with or without shirt and pants. I most definitely highly recommend them for all kinds of nasty weather. Often times I will find something that is perfect and when I need to replace it, I find it's no longer available. I do a lot of outdoor work in cold conditions. These are keeping me warm in 40 degree weather. Very comfortable. I am 260 pounds and I went with the 3X. These long handles are very comfortable, warm, and of great quality. I do have one issue. There isn't an opening for the ability to use the bathroom without having to take your pants down all the way.
