I purchased these TXL flannel sheets to go on my daughter's dorm bed for next fall. I had a tough time finding 100% cotton sheets (not microfiber) in this size and wasn't keen to get flannel ones as they are often too heavy or wrinkle easily. The Mellanni brand is not one I was familiar with, but after reading some of the reviews I decided to take a chance on purchasing as the price was right. ☆ What I like about these sheets: 1. They did not shrink when washed and dried. I washed them in hot water with a cold rinse, then dried them on low heat. I used Tide detergent and Snuggle liquid fabric softener. 2. The beige color is more 'cream' which for me was a good thing. Blended well with existing bedding. 3. After one washing the sheets were soft and felt like they'd be comfortable to sleep under. 4. The pockets of these sheets look like they will accommodate a twin XL mattress, 3" memory foam topper and a quilted mattress cover without pulling up on the corners. 5. The sheets are a mid-weight flannel. Not see-through by any means, but not so heavy that they would be uncomfortable to sleep under. 6. Right out of the dryer there was minimal wrinkling and they folded nicely. 7. Overall quality seems very good. --------------------------------------------------------- ♦︎ What may be an issue for some users: 1. There is a lot of fluff that comes off these sheets when washed and dried the first time. I would expect that to diminish with future wash and dry cycles. 2. There is slight pilling of the sheets after the first wash. Enough so that when I was folding the sheets and wearing a black fleece jacket, I had to get a lint roller to 'de-pill' myself. ------------------------------------------------------- Assuming the sheets hold-up to daily use for 9 months, I will have gotten my money's worth out of them. I was initially disappointed by the terrible smell of the sheets when I opened the box. Then noticed that the color was not the same as on the website. It was a dull blue instead of vibrant like the picture. But because they were so soft I decided to keep and wash them. When I took them out of the washer they left lint everywhere. I thought that drying them would help. When I opened the dryer the lint tray was so full I could barely remove it to clean it. When I pulled the sheets out of the dryer lint fell everywhere. What a mess! The sheets had lost so much lint that the fabric was discolored in places. I decided to return them because of the mess from all of the lint. ... show more

    • Those with allergies.. think twice.
Where do I begin. I purchased these sheets because they are 100% cotton and I suffer from allergies, cotton is supposed to be hypoallergenic for the most part. When I received the sheets, I took them from the packaging and a strong odor of chemicals wafted out, smelled like chlorine or vinegar or something (maybe this is why there is a bold font label stating to wash before use). I did as directed and washed the entire set. After drying them, I noticed my lint filter was completely full, about 3 handfuls of densely packed grey lint. I wonder how much more lint it would have caught if I emptied it periodically throughout dry cycle. Anyway, as I put them on the bed, I noticed that the vinegar chemical smell was still there every time I moved the sheets it wafted at me. The first night I sneezed a few times, but I was very tired and managed to fall asleep quickly. I woke up the next morning with my sinuses completely closed, couldn't breathe from nose, and had to take a steam shower to clear everything up. I thought maybe I just needed to wash them again, so I did. Same thing, dryer catch 100% full of lint, and still smelled weird. The next night I wasn't as exhausted and didn't fall asleep quickly, this led to tossing and turning. Every time I moved, the sheets blasted whatever was causing the congestion at me. I even have a hepa purifier in my room that I actually had to angle to blow directly in my face in order to not sneeze constantly. I layed there for a couple hours sneezing and blowing my nose. It was late and I had to be up early so I eventually had to literally put on a 3m n95 particle mask that I use for vacuuming to be able to sleep. I slept in a mask meant to protect construction workers from literal asbestos to be able to get some rest using these sheets. If you are a person who isn't bothered by allergens/lint/whatever is in things like these sheets, you may be ok. If you're like me, I'd look elsewhere. That is all. ... show more
