  • Great deal, great sound, small imperfection.
Color: Brass
First things first, i am a new drummer. Not a pro by any means and zero insperations of being one. I am drumming because it is fun, not to join a band. I am happy pounding along with drumless tracks or enjoing my weekly group lesson with guys who have been 'practicing' for 20 years. That all being said, this crash sounds like it's $200+ counterpart from the 'big 2' manufactuers at a fraction of the cost. The owly downside is that it arrived with a kink on the edge. Shipping is shipping and the cost is not worth my throwing a fit or returning the product. I feel dirty taking a star off for the kink as it was hardly Meinl's fault, but I am rating the whole experince including shipping/storeage/handling. It still sounds great. Photo of kink attached. Bannana for scale. ... show more

  • You Get What You Pay For
Color: Brass
You Get What You Pay For. And this review is of a cymbal you're only paying 60 bucks for. I got this to temporarily replace a $250 Zildjian crash that cracked. It really doesn't sound that bad if hit hard. It's brighter than I expected, but that worked out for me. Got no complaints.

  • Good so far
Color: Brass
Too early to tell how good they are but shipping and the look of them is has met my expectations. I will update if they can take a beating 4 times sometimes up to 6 times a week for 2 hours at a time. The zildjian we used before lasted about 6 months. This may be because a lot of new drummers play. And since these are advertised as training cymbals hopefully they can take a longer beating. I will update at in about 6 months. Edit: only lasted 6 month just like others. Will just have to keep looking for a better set ... show more

  • Great cymbal!
Color: Brass
I have been playing about a year and a half, and I might not be the most experienced player, but I know my stuff. This cymbal is well worth about 100$! For this price, you could get another good cymbal, but not with all of the qaulities of this cymbal. The Meinl 16" HCS Crash is a great cymbal for begginers or pros, it is extremley durable, loud, and tough. I beat the heck outta my cymbals, but i hit em the right way so they last, and this one especially puts up with a lot. An overall great buy, GET YOURSELF ONE! ... show more

  • Great for a practice set
Color: Brass
Upgrading my practice kit.....this was better than a zilgian in the same price range. Much better tone.

  • A good student grade crash cymbal.
Color: Brass
The Meinl HCS 16" traditional ride cymbal is a very ruggedly crafted instrument. It has a medium to light ringing tone if struck lightly at the edge, and sounds more like the kind or crash one would expect, to a point. It is a student grade cymbal. Obviously, higher end cymbals will sound much better, but these are meant to be used for practicing by students. I'm sure they'd do in a pinch at the intermediate level of performance by small bands. ... show more
