My review is regarding the Lash Sensational Sky High mascara by Maybelline. (I purchased black.). I am 65 years old and used to have long, beautiful eyelashes. They were so long and thick that I only needed to use an eyelash curler on them for years and never needed to apply mascara. Into my 40s I noticed my eyelashes were falling out and became very sparse. I do believe that using the eyelash curler that pulled at the roots is what caused them to fall out. (do not use eyelash curlers!). They eventually grew back, but have been very sparse and thin ever since. I’ve been searching for years for a mascara that will actually make my lashes look thicker, longer and curly. This product does that. I’m thinking it has something to do with the application brush. It is very thin. The thin application brush makes it easy to accurately apply the mascara only to my eyelashes, (and not all over my eyelids.). I apply to one side, and then the other side, then I dip the brush back into the tube get more mascara, and apply to both sides one more time. The results are amazing! Just like many others, I've tried dozens of mascaras over the years and been let down each time. I'm very happy with this one. It gives both volume and length to my otherwise transparent lashes. Maybe not quite as good as false lashes, but certainly more comfortable to wear. It doesn't feel heavy or cakey and no clumping. So far it also causes no irritation to my normally sensitive eyes. There is no question that this is good mascara. I have this in a few different shades, and I’m experimenting with which color I like best. It goes on beautifully and comes off really nicely, as well. That is a real plus. What I’m not sure about is how sometimes it just feels like a lot on my eyes. Even if you try to apply lightly, it can feel pretty wet and dark. I might just still be trying to apply correctly so, again, I’m experimenting with different shades. I am really liking the cosmic black, which comes in the black tube, so that might be making a difference as the consistency seems to feel a little bit different. But I really do like how all of these can be removed so easily because they are tubing mascaras. Definitely a nice mascara line and great value for money! ... show more

The formula was a little wet the first week but I kept using it since I didn't have another option. Just wait, after the first week it's PERFECT. Holds a curl now and everything. Great mascara. Elongates my lashes and does not irritate my eyes. I'm very sensitive when it comes to mascara. Usually my eyes itch from mascara after a couple of hours, even from hypoallergenic ones. But this mascara feels really light and friendly for my eyes.

I have a complicated relationship with mascara. I don't exactly love it, but I kinda need it because my lashes are so light blonde that when I don't wear any, I look like I don't even have lashes. One complicated aspect of our relationship is either they change, or I do. I LOVED Tightline by It Cosmetics - even wore at my wedding - but they changed the formula and the product was drying up in less than two weeks. I wore the super cheap Essence waterproof mascara for a couple of years, then it started irritating my eyes; they could have changed something, or maybe I developed an allergy; I'm not sure. I even thought I had found a holy grail in Lancome's Définicils, but then *I* changed my esthetic and decided I wanted to wear brown to meld better with my strawberry blonde hair. That's how I arrived here. I watched a strawberry blonde Tiktoker discussing her makeup routine, and she uses this in brown. She said it was a true brown, instead of a black-brown like most mascara companies make - which is kind of insulting to us, the customers who want/need a brown, but the companies think we're unsure of this and the difference between black and black-brown is not even noticeable when you have it on. 🙄 I don't know if I would consider this a "true brown", it's definitely not black, but it lacks the warmth and brightness of a true brown - like the brown of Cabaret's mascara (which is beautiful, but doesn't go on well and clumps terribly). The Sky High has a similar applicator, but the formula is much better - more smooth and creamy and not clumpy at all. It's also a tubing mascara, which, if you haven't tried a tubing, you don't know what you're missing! It stays put, but comes off with just warm water and a gentle tug. That is the biggest reason I'm giving it four stars: it DOES lengthen a LOT, without clumping or adding too much volume (I'm not a fan of the voluminous mascaras, myself; I prefer one that improves color and definition). If you like black, or black-brown mascaras that will give you length, without adding volume, and prefer a rubbery, spiny applicator over a thinner brush or spoolie type applicator, this one is for you. I just place more priority on color because I have none on my natural lashes and black can look too harsh on my fair skin and with my light-colored hair. So, off I go!
